I went out and bought a pack of DVD-R Recordables 4.7gb's and when I put them in the DVD drive nothing happens. I have rewrightables that work why won't this one work?

What do you mean nothing happens?? What do you want to happen when a blank disc is inserted in the drive?? Did you try to burn to it and nothing happened or did you get an error message. Check the media you are using and make sure it is good quality.
