I record a TV program to a DVD-RW. Then I save it to the hard drive.
What format or extension do I save this TV program too that would play on any DVD player? Would AVI be correct?
I looked at a store bought DVD. The only folder showing on the DVD was a "Video_TS" folder. Is this what I need to copy to a blank DVD- the Video_TS folder??
Thank you in advance
What format is it in? What files were on there? If the largest file or files was a VOB file(s), you have a DVD-video format disc and should be able to burn a regular DVD. With Nero, you'd start Nero Burning Rom, select the DVD-Video template, and drag the IFO, BUP and VOB files into the red VIDEO_TS folder on the left. (In the future, you should just be able to use the COPY function rather than copy to your hard drive first).
If the main file(s) is a .VRO, you have a DVD-VR. You will need to run it through a DVD authoring software first, such as Nero Vision, Womble MPEG Video Wizard, Ulead Moviefactory or Video Studio, whatever. You will have to manually create chapters if you want them though. If your recording device offers you the option, have it record in DVD-Video rather than DVD-VR mode.
-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.
