I have a qoob pro and when I plug in my computer to the gamecube, it does not display a connection. I have the right ip address of the gamecube. My computer accepts local area connections from cable modems and such but doesn;t recognize the gamecube. The problem only seems to be with my computer cause I have tried with other comps and it works fine but my comp will not establish a connection with the gamecube. Does anyone know why this would be?

You're using a crossover cable (aka patch cable), correct? And make sure you're going to the link below once everything's hooked up properly.

Is your computer configured for DHCP or does it have a static IP?

Try setting your computer's IP with these settings and let me know how it goes.

IP: 192.168.1.100
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

Yah, I tried that also. I am not too sure but I think its beacuse I have a laptop(sony vaio) that just won't read the gamecube connection even though it can read modem connections.

I had issues getting my laptop to connect to my Xbox a few months back, and after tinkering with the IP settings I got it to work just fine with a crossover cable.

I assume you're connecting the GameCube directly to your laptop using a crossover cable, correct? If you aren't sure what kind of cable it is, crossover cables are almost always yellow, and are marked on the side with text saying something along of the lines of "patch/crossover cable."

The only reason I ask is because if you use the ethernet cable from your cable modem, it may not work since the cable modem's eternet cable is probably a normal straight through ethernet cable. If it was say, a DSL modem it'd use a patch cable instead.

If you can't get it to work using the settings I gave you alongside a patch cable, I don't know what else to tell you.

Oh, and forgot to say, that the GameCube most likely won't show up as a LAN connection, which is why you need to use a web browser to initiate a download.

Thanks for the info. I have used different cables before. It works with other comps but it doesn't read mine. When I used the different comp, it registered it as a lan connection. I'll try some other stuff.
