How do I know my Verbatims are real?

Having followed the advice on this forum to use Verbatim discs, I bought 2 100 disc spindles. But now, after reading all of the articles and statements about fake media, I want to find out if what I bought is real. I purchased from Newegg, which I also read about here, but I would like to know what to look for tobe sure they are real before I start burning on these.

You more than likely got the 'real' deal. Newegg is a reputable online site.
Put a blank in the drive and id them. Verbs are made by MCC so the program you use to identify them will show this as the media id.

Thanks for the tip. I just downloaded the identifier and will give it a go. I figured that Newegg was ok since it was mentioned here, but when you're new it is easy to become skeptical. I'm learning, and I really appreciate the teachers on this forum!!

Usually TY is faked. Much of the flea market no-name discs will ID as TYG02's. Shop4Tech also has off brands that will ID as TYG02, to their credit they don't sell them as such or claim that they are TY's.

Can't blame you for being skeptical!
Another good reputable site to buy media is http://supermediastore.com.
Sells genuine Taiyo Yuden - great stuff - and Verbs too. Good prices.
As MysticE pointed out TY can be faked but both supermedia, newegg, rima (forgetting 1 or 2) are reputable and only sell the 'real' deal.

Don't buy off of EBay most of disc's are junk. Like Binkie7 said supermediastore.com and newegg.com are the real deal.

It's great to have all of you as a resource. As to purchases, I feel like I did pretty good with Newegg, and I did check Meritline, but they were a little bit more. I will look at Rima next time, but I just got my 200 new shinys, so it will be a while.
Again, thanks for the expertise. If it wasn't for this forum I never could have come so far. Over 350 discs burned by now. Not bad for a newbie!!

Congratulations. It's nice to have a few choices when shopping for media. Supermediastore seems to be the most expensive unless buying older media in bulk, then Meritline...NewEgg and Rima seem to have the best everyday deals. I just bought 100 TY's, 100 Verbs and replacement carts for my R320 for $85 including shipping from Rima, they had the best deal for what I wanted to get from one site. Happy burning.

Sorry man, I stated 100 Verbs but it was a 50 pack.
100 TY 8X +R printable = 32.00
50 Verb 16X +R printable = 21.00
Epson R series compatable ink set = 15.00
+shipping (too lazy to fill in the form)
68.00 before shipping, sorry I gave the wrong info earlier. The reason I went with Rima is because they had what I wanted from one place and were the cheapest. I could have ordered the TY's from one place and the Verbs from another and the ink somewhere else and came out cheaper, but I wanted one stop shopping. Again, sorry for the misinformation.
EDIT: I went ahead and filled out the form, shipping is $7.52 for a total of $76.51. It appears I got ripped off with my shipment...I want my money back...LOL
