Just to clarify...
It IS possible to boot into DOS with an Intel Mac to flash your drive. You will need to have a supported SATA chipset so most Mac's may be SOL, but a Mac Pro with a PCI-SATA card may work.
The link I posted above is correct, but I have not been able to boot DOS from a flash drive. I needed to make a bootable CD which limits a lot of your options since it is read-only. I don't see any reason why it is not possible, but I was unable to figure it out - yet.

There is now... It's called OSx360, and I developed it myself for that exact reason. It's absolutely free as well...

Hi,
First of all, thank you to your contribution to the Mac community. Your software is pretty easy to use!
I want a post a topic on your forum to discuss about the error i have but i don't manage to create an account.
I have already try to use X360_ISO_Hacker and iburn 360 but i always have an error.
So i try with your software and i get the same error.
The error is "The burn on the MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-857E failed. The device can not calibrate the power level of the laser for this media".
Do you know what is mean?
This error appears few seconds after i click on Burn.
I am using an Mac Book Pro with Philipps DVD+R DL.
Is anyone know something about this error?

okay so here's how i burn games. i use OSx360 program which is great beyond belief. on the subject of what media you use to burn them on, i have used verbatim to memorex and now i'm using office depot's generic dvd+r dl's. i didn't mean to use these but these are the ones someone gave to me. they work fine and cost much less. i have burned 4 games using these discs. i'm using the standard matshita drive that came in my mac. and i use itchycats.com to download games from. excellent. and that's that.

Ok so I just got my 360. I've read this thread up and down and I'm getting the impression that we can't back up our own bought games. It seems like I'm missing a step to have that happen. I understand you need an image/iso but its not possible to rip that with a Mac? If I'm wrong let me know.
I'm also not sure what "flashing the drive means"... would I still be able to play original games after its flashed? Any help would be great thanks. This was so much more straight forward with my PS2...lol.

I would recommend browsing xboxhacker dot net and xbox-scene dot com forums to find out how to flash your 360. Original games will still work.
First thing is that you need to find out if your Xbox 360 is able to be flashed.
Next, If your 360 can be flashed, you will need a PC with a supported sata chipset to flash the drive.
You will still need to use Windows (or Linux) to rip your own games using a modified Samsung DVD-ROM drive since Mac OS X does not support the special drive commands to read the special sectors.
You than can burn your iso's with OSx360, or any other software that can set a manual layer break.

here is how i do it. First, put in the normal copy of your game. Second, Open up disk utility, and on the top bar, select create new image. Select the game you inserted into the dvd drive. an error message might pop up and if it does, just ignore it. after the image has been created go to the place you saved it. It shoukd be called what ever you titled it .dmg. Next you must click once on the .dmg image then go to file>get info> then under name and extension change the extension from .dmg to .iso. Next open up x360 hacker and go to hack. choose the iso and your done.

I have tried to use disc utility to do that, I have not tried to change the .dmg to .iso. When I tried to create an image of the disc the file only turned out to be 5mb in size. While the disc was in the tray, utility only recognized it to be that size also. I didn't try going any further with it since the file was so small.

My first issue before I even get to backing up of any game is that I have a 360 with a philips drive. At least I believe I do from info gathered elsewhere. So far I have not found a way to flash my drive. So I'm pretty stuck without that first step taken care of.

Hi all, so let me get this straight: All i need is the OSx360 app and no Iso hack software? Or do i need to hack the Iso in some way before dragging the Iso file to the OSx360 app?

Do not use X360 ISO Hacker if you intend on using OSx360. OSx360 is made to work on proper Xbox 360 disk images.

Appreciate that, thank you sir. Have ordered a Samsung Writemaster SE-S224Q external writer and am hoping it'll work. Also ordered some Verbatim DVD+R DL 8.5GB 2.4X. First time burner here so i'm a bit nervous it won't work but i'd be a lot more nervous without your software so thank you kindly sir.

I did everything, patch, burn, etc, so I put it in the drive and it came up with the DVD version of it, ala 'Please put this in a 360 to play this game'. It was in my 360 :(
How do I fix this?

Technically you could use any type of Dual Layer Disc to burn a xbox360 game, should you? NO. The best disc to use is Verbatim Dual Layer Media, some prefer to burn at 2.4X, me I burn at 4X no problem ever. It is also important to note that Verbatim Dual Layer Media made in Singapore is best. There's a lot of discs made in India floating around which a lot of people say is inferior quality, personally I have never tried them, as I like to stick with what already works. As for telling you the cheapest place to buy them, I don't believe advertising is allowed here so PM Me and I can get you info on a reliable supplier that stocks the Singapore discs.
