I already did all of that, did it all in one swipe = ) I have an SNES emulator, CogSwap, HDLoader .08c and FMCB all on my memory card. I have the patch also to allow hard drives above 137GB. One last thing though, is there an exploit to make HDLoader read/retain PSX games/DVD's? Right now I can only get ps2 games on mine = /

Cool.
Nope sorry, PS1 games won't work on a hdd or a USB drive.

If you have a V9 PS2, you can use Ulaunch.elf to play PS1 backups.

For now ffgriever is still working on getting PS1 games to work using fmcb.

It's really simple too!
====================================================================
===== My apologies, this process resumes after completing and creating the exploit using Independence compile 5.1. ==============
====================================================================

Get the output xxxxxxx.xps file that the Independence compile has created. Open Ps2 Save Builder 0.8 to view the xxxxx.xps file then click on FILE, SAVE AS then selecting the option for .md (Sharkport)with the name BEDATA-SYSTEM.md (Note BEDATA-SYSTEM is for PAL games, but you should already know that by this stage)

Then find the file BEDATA-SYSTEM.md and rename the file extension to BEDATA-SYSTEM.ps2 in windows by right clicking on the file and selecting rename.

Put BEDATA-SYSTEM.ps2 on your USB stick then load up Xploder v5. Go into Memory Manager/Save games then have the USB stick as your source and your MC as the target and transfer the BEDATA-SYSTEM.ps2 file to the MC.

You'll notice that the file name on the MC will be something like Independence-Exploit. That's it! Xploder did what it was meant to do. If the file remains the same on the MC then you've compile your exploit incorrectly. Go back and start fresh. It will work!

Now, press Triangle to get back to the main menu then select start game. Select yes to start game without cheats then put in your PS1 game and press X. You'll end up in the PS2 browser. Select memory card and you should see a new icon. Press O to exit then select the Black Ps1 disc icon to start the game and that is it!

Yes! You've done it and have defeated Exploder v5 monster wall!!!

Thanks everyone and enjoy!
Hello darockman,
Sorry to bother you but I have a problem.
I'd say I'm fine with your tutorial up until the point where you actually copy over your file to the memory card using the xploder software (I do not have x-link, just the cd) I Have opened my generated .xps file in save builder 0.8, and saved them as BEDATA-SYSTEM as all of the formats aswell as renaming them to .ps2. When I copy them over the name doesnt change to independance exploit, and I still have an x-ploder icon in the ps2 browser.
Do I just need to copy the .ps2 file, or have it in a folder named BEDATA-SYSTEM aswell when I copy it over.

Thanks in advance,
keemy

Hi Keemy,

Yeah mine didn't come with a cable either... So it was very difficult trying to find information on how to do it with Xploder.

Okay you should have a copy of the BEDATA-SYSTEM.ps2 exploit that you have created on your USB stick.

In Xploder go to Memory manager and have your USB stick as the Source and the PS2 memory card as the other.

I can't remember if the Xploder memory manager can see directories but to be safe place the BEDATA-SYSTEM.ps2 file in the root of the USB stick.

Now you should be able to select the BEDATA-SYSTEM.ps2 file and copy to ps2 memory card. That should do it. I really had trouble with other file formats. Bloody Xploder would not allow you to copy them over but what I have mentioned should work for you too.

Good luck!!!

As you should already know the ps1 exploit only works on the FAT PS2 models. However this will not prevent you from copying the exploit to the ps2 memory card via Xploder.

Thanks for everyhting so far darockman,
but I cant see where i'm going wrong.
Ive got my title.db formatted like this SLES_000.00,
And (re)compiled everything about 15 times in exploit utility 5.0, added cogswap, fcmb, the snes emulator and then updated the ulauch BOOT.ELF to v4.38.
After exporting my xps file, I open it using save builder 0.8, and save as a .md file with the name BEDATA-SYSTEM, which I then rename to BEDATA-SYSTEM.ps2 and copy to my usb stick.
Over on the xploder memory card manager, I format my memorycard, and then copy over BEDATA-SYSTEM.ps2, but when I copy it the name dosent change and I have an xploder icon in the ps2 browser.

Do you know what im doing wrong

Hey Keemy,

No luck aye?

Are you in the US (NTSC) or Closer to where I live, Australia, New Zealand or in Europe (PAL)

BADATA-SYSTEM = NTSC
BEDATA-SYSTEM = PAL

I have a feeling you could be NTSC. Yip looks like I made a mistake in my rant as it should have said that it relates to PAL PS2 models.

I hope this now fixes things. Um, also get rid of all that junk. Not necessary. Just have Ulaunch.elf in the export and have FREE MC Boot installer on your USB stick. If all goes well Ulaunch will boot and you can run FREE MC boot from the USB stick.

Good luck again ;)

Hi Keemy,

I tried it over and over and cursed Xploder so many times. It must have taken me over 2 months before I got it going.

Sorry, I don't have the BEDATA-SYSTEM.ps2 file that I transfer over. I knew I should have kept it somewhere safe just in case I'd have to do it again but in the excitement I ended up formatting my USB Stick....

I don't know what further to suggest... :(

If you can't get it too work just send a memory card to one of these fellows in Europe and get them too install fmcb 1.8 for you.

Hey Keemy,

You're in luck. I was going through some files on laptop and I happend to find the BEDATA-SYSTEM.ps2 that I used. I also think during the transfer. I also transfered another .ps2 saved game. Not sure if that made a difference.

Let me know what you're email address is and I'll send it to you. The ps1 game I used for the exploit was Final Fantasy VIII Disc 1 or was it disc 3? I can't remember. If you have FF 8 try all the discs ;)

Tanks guys for all your effort and help, but I'm just gonna order AR Max EVO to copy over the exploit. I really need to play something now because my 360 isn't well (E74). It's time I forgot Xploder.

Thanks again guys.

hey guys. i am in the same boat as a few other people here cause im having trouble getting the exploit to work on my ps2. I am a noob to all this so please be gentle lol. What i have is:

fat pal ps2 (model SCPH-50003) not sure which version this is
ps2 save builder 0.8
ps2 exploit util 5.1
uLaunchelf 4.39
free Mcboot 1.8b
(ALSO DOWNLOADED freeMcboot Newbie package cause i thought this might be a bit easier lol but havent tried this yet)
using ps1 game koudelka (SLES_028.97) as trigger
and am using Xploder v5 to apply the exploit

I do have the xlink cable but to be honest i find using my flash drive easier and quicker to move the files around.

What iv done so far is created the exploit using ps2 exploit util with options as - got TITLE.DB from disc - default loader - files none (i have not added any extra elf files here as i would just want to get the exploit running for now as basic without any confussion and once setup i can had apps till my hearts content lol ) - IP off - region PAL - extras default (NO ELF AUTO START) - create exploit XPS format ticked.
Once created opened created xps file in ps2 save builder checked root ID was correct as BEDATA-SYSTEM and saved file as BEDATA-SYSTEM.md . Once that saved changed file extension to .ps2 and saved to flash drive. I then booted ps2 with xploder in and from main menu went in to memory manager. Formatted 8mb ps2 memory card and copied BEDATA-SYSTEM.ps2 file from flash to mc. Once done i restarted ps2 with xploder still in drive, no name changed in memory card as i had read should happen on this forum and when i clicked start game and inserted the trigger disc the game started as normal. I have looked all over the forums for help and im struggling with getting my head around all this. Any help would be great

Also i have seen that you need to patch your ps2 games before you burn them but i cant find any help in how to do this. If you need a certain program to patch your games could someone please include a link to where i could get it and mabey a quick little quide on using it if that isnt on the website or in a readme. Thanks again guys. Keep up the good work

Did you follow "Darockman's" post - he is the guy who got this working without using an x-link cable.
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2/624363#4229725

I think a problem in your case is you rebooted PS2 with xploder still in drive. That will then write over the system config file again.

The esr disc patcher can be found in the "Official ESR thread"

Also is this thread on how to install using xploder and x-link cable
Just read through the first page.

hey smoky, thanks for your reply. yes i have followed darockmans post by the letter but still nothing is happening. from what iv read i think iv created the exploit wrong somehow but cant find out what im doing wrong. from what iv written in my previous post can you see where i might be going wrong with createing the exploit? i got the title.db directly from the disk, left the loader as the default choice, did not add any extra files (to save any conflicts that may occur), IP off as not on network, region PAL, default values in the extras tab (no elf autostart), then created exploit as xps file. since ur reply i have reformatted the mc and recopied over the BEDATA-SYSTEM.ps2 file and rebooted without xploder disc in, i browse to mc and there is the file with xploder icon and no name change. before and after reboot no name change happened either which is what i had read on a few threads here. i have also read thru the 3rd link you left which i have tried already and this link you left for someone else before http://psx-scene.com/forums/435478-post4.html
As i say i think im just creatin the exploit wrong so any guideance you could offer would b great

I think you are making the exploit right, it is just the copy to mc problem.

I think your better off to copy the file to mc using the x-link cable.

Rename the xps file to BEDATA-SYSTEM.p2m since your using the xlink cable

your ps2 xploder cd must be loaded to its xploder v5 menu and left there while you connect the xlink cable up to your pc

Then put in your ps1 game and reboot and it should start the exploit.

thanks for your reply smokyrain but sadly still no joy. I have tried what you have suggested in your last post but its still not working. I have also tried making the .p2m extension as capital letters at which point the xlink pc software displayed info saying it was created with the exploit util but said that the format of the file ment that it could not be uploaded using that software. I have also tried using xlink to transfer the file as .ps2 but xlink didnt even find it. Other things i have tried is using flash drive to copy over the files with the extensions of .md .ps2 & .p2m all with no joy. I have also tried coping a folder with the exploit files inside (boot, title & such) but the xploder on ps2 couldnt copy a folder 4 some reason so created that folder as a zip file and copied that to the MC but when i unzipped this nothing new appeared. i must admit im completely lost now lol. When the exploit is loaded on the MC is anything suppose to happen like the name of the BEDATA-SYSTEM file changing or anything. Also is it only the BEDATA-SYSTEM file that im supposed to be uploading & is it supposed to be within a folder or just placed in MC root? I cant think of anything else to try now. Could it be the disk im using for the TITLE.DB? Any help anyone could offer would be great. PLZZZZZZZZZ HELPPPPPPPP lol

Yes it could very well be your psx trigger disc. They are not all compatible with installing the exploit.

If you have another one , try it.

Also to check if the file copied over correctly, just check "Your System Configuration" file in the Ps2 Browser and see if its bigger.

Also when it installs you will see a bright flash etc, then you should see the ulaunch screen.

Could also be you need to first delete "Your System Configuration" file off the PS2 memory card first.
Also make sure your title.db is in proper format - SLUS_111.11

Then copy the BEDATA-SYSTEM file over.

do you know if there is any complaiblity list or a list of games that cant be used as a trigger, i no this may be a very long list so i thought there is but you never no lol. before i copy any files on to the MC i format it and the "your system configuration" file only reappears after the game has started loading, non of the times iv tried has that file got any bigger. yes my title.db is the correct format as SLES_028.97 (thats the actual ID im using as trigger). Also iv watched a video iv come across http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to/video/...d-a-ps2-261945/ which is a quick tutorial of how to install the soft mod. They are using the codebreakers disk as where im using xploder but my question is when they access the flash drive on ps2 before they copy the file it is already could "your system configuration", do i need to rename my BEDATA-SYSTEM file or do i need to place in a folder or anything? can i place the files inside BEDATA-SYSTEM directly in the root of MC? i cant think of anything else now lol.

Also could the version of my ps2 be interfering with the software?

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY Finally got it working. Found a tutorial at this link which helped me sus it http://www.console-exploits.com/forums/showthread.php?p=116141 writen by takiama. They was using gameshark but thought it was worth a shot. Heres what i did.

Using the xlink cable copy "Your SystemConfiguration" file from you MC and save a your pc (will autosave as .P2M). Create your exploit using ps2 exploit util the normal way you would. Once created open ps2 save builder and extract BOOT.ELF, TITLE.DB & any other elfs you added while building your exploit and save them as seperate files. Once done use ps2 save builder to open your systemconfiguration file your just got from your MC and add the files you just extracted from your exploit (BOOT.ELF, TITLE.DB & so on). Heres where im still a bit confussed so hopefully someone can help me out, save your systemconfiguration file without changing its name (KEEP AS Your SystemConfiguration) but i made 3 copys, 1 with .P2M, another with .PS2 and a 3rd with .MD extentions (just incase lol). Im not sure which 1 worked so to save my having to much hassle ill leave it as it is lol. Save them in your default save directory (mines C:/PROGRAM FILES/FIRE INTERNATIONAL/XLINK/SAVES) once copied refresh your xlink software and the save will appear on your list (mine was listed at the bottom) copy that file over to your MC and it will ask if you want to overwrite your existing file, just click ok. Reboot your ps2 with your trigger disk in and presto. If i do find out which which file made it work for me i will update this. Big thanks to smokyrain for all your help mate, u been great. ty bud
