when Im encoding with dvdx some movies are converted with the directer's commentary on.How the hell does that happen and how can I avoid it. also does anyone know of a faster encoding program other than dvdx????

I know of two good alternatives to DVD X Copy:

1). Use DVD Shrink to both rip and compress the movie. You can also choose the DVD Re-author button in DVD Shrink to get rid of the funstions you dont, such as directors commentary.

2). Use DVD Decrypter and DVD2One to rip and then compress the movie. You will be able to select movie only mode so as to get rid of the extra features.

jaildog, were you refering to the encoder DVDx or DVDXCopy?. I don't use DVDx so I don't know how fast it is or why it has included the director's commentary with the rip/encode but two of the best encoders are TMPGEnc and CCE (Cinema Craft Encoder).

You can get hold of TMPGEnc from Afterdawn, it includes free MPEG-1 encoding and a 30 day trial of MPEG-2 encoding, and I believe CCE has a trial version available.
