Hello, I'm trying to backup a DVD of the movie RV. Have 3 little kids that like to use DVDs as weapons. Hence backups. My DVD drive doesn't even recognize my RV disk in the drive. I try "Run" E: and it tells me to insert a disk. I have Realplayer set to autorun DVDs, that doesn't kick in. I backed up the movie Failure to Launch, immediately after this RV disk wasn't recognized. This is pissin' me off! I've got an arsenal of tools to get around the crappy laws that say I can't make my OWN copies, and i can't use them cause this disk doesn't even show on "properties". It works fine in my DVD player though!?! any one know any secrets? Thanks in advance for the help! (and for lettin' me vent!)

you might try clening the disk with windex and a fine cotton cloth and if that dose not work go to your local video store and have them resurface the disk, that solve your problem, also you might put your disks up so the kids won't use your dvd's as toys to play with, hope that helps

OK, EVERYBODY WHO CAN'T BACKUP RV READ THIS

It appears that RV is one of the first DVD movies to be released with yet another new type of copy protection (or maybe the same old type but stronger, I don't know???)
The point is that none of the software I have ever used before will even attempt to ripp it. Clone DVD even claims that the original disc has not been mastered properly, balls!

Shrink, Clone DVD, Fab etc are all no good, even with the latest AnyDVD running!

THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED !!!!!!!!!!!

Go and get RipIt4Me (look on google)

It's not a complete piece of kit but combines the powers of
some other software that you must have instaled which most of you may already have, if the following are not installed in your Programs folder you will need to tell RipIt4Me where to find them but that's easy because it asks you.

DVD Shrink
DVD Decrypter
FixVTS (this one you might not have, but again look on google)

you must close AnyDVD whilst running this as they don't work together
and it will 100% work and do a perfect copy of 'RV' and it's quick.

It automaticly opens each of the other programs and uses them in turn to do different tasks, it's like watching a ghost work with you pc, all these windows popping up all over. But what you are left with is DVD Shrink open with all the processed files ready to do what you want with. EASY PEASEY !!!!!

I am probably never going to use Clone DVD from now on as I always liked Shrink better but stopped using it when it couldn't cope with new releases. Now thanks to this method you can use Shrink again, YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

Don't know how to sticky posts or whatever, but somebody please make sure others know about this RipIt4Me as it should work with ANYTHING!
