I am using the guide for ripping DVD's to Divx and when i get down to the part using Divx, the person who wrote it has a different version that i do. I didn't think this was a problem until i got there and the author of the guide had differend choices then i did and i couldn't figure out what to choose. Does anyone know what to do with the newest divx codec?

If not, then do you know where i can download the version that the author of the guide is using (5.0)

Thank you

Another question about DVD to divx.....................In DV Tool when i enter the file size as something other than 1200 and then copy down and later use the bitrate that it suggests than the final product will be that size, right?

Thanks

Im assuming youre using the newest version of divx(divx 5.05). If youre doing 2 or more passes you need to choose multipass-first pass, psychovisual enhancements if you want and save your settings, then follow the guide's instructions until you choose the settings for the second pass, when you get back to the divx encoder properties, you choose multipass,nth-pass. follow the guide again, and you should come out with an AVI.

Not necessarily...getting your movie to the size you want it to be is sometimes difficult. Movie size depends on the movie. If its high in action itll be harder to compress and therefore file size will be larger, on the flip side, if its low in action file size will be closer to what you want sometimes lower. Its like trial and error, if you overshoot the file size, lower bitrate, undershoot file size increase bitrate.
