If a local store mods PS2s, they'd probably be willing to mod a GameCube as well.

Yes, mini DVDs are compatible with normal DVD burners.

Thanks goes out to theridges for the userbars :)

A flip top? Only PS2s use flip tops, and that's only for soft mods (ie Swap Magic)... If you have a mod chip installed in a GameCube all you need are mini DVD-Rs. No reason to use the normal sized DVD-Rs since you can't use the entire disc anyway.

Custom cases and flip tops aren't the same thing. A flip top is used so that the PS2 doesn't reset while you swap discs, since you don't use the eject button. The custom cases for GameCube often allow for full size DVD-Rs to be used, but apparrently not all mod chips allow enough spin-up time for these to work. So really mini DVD-Rs are the way to go at this point since they're not as expensive as they were a year ago.

And STAY AWAY FROM MEMOREX and all store brand DVD-Rs for that matter. Buy some RiDATA mini DVD-Rs and you'll be fine. Using crap media like Memorex or any other DVD-R with CMC dye is like feeding someone small amounts of poison until they die. You're just speeding up the death of your GameCube's laser if you use those.

most stores in toronto that sell mods chips dont sell them individually. they tell you to buy a brand new console and they mod it which is like 150$ around, or more or less. i would reccomend buying them off the internet, but if u really can't, then you dont have many options. there arent even that many stores in the gta that sell products like that. sorry. your best bet is the internet.

also, the pacific mall has a policy, that if you want a system modded, they wont sell you the modchip alone because they get complaints that they're console is screwed up by the mod. so they sell you the console WITH the mod
