DW-U10A 2x DVD write only

I bought the DW-U10A, it has 1.1d fw. It
was bundled with NTI DVD-maker gold. Under
this software, in drive properties, the
drive shows up with a dvd 2x write speed.
I thought it was 4x. Any suggestions? I
tried Pinnacle burnig sw and it burn's
coaster only, what a waste I should have
went full retail 500a.
