I'm looking for a guide on how to flash a samsung drive, I don't really know anything about this so I'm hoping for one that explains everything.

http://dwl.xbox-scene.com/tutorial/Hitac...alV33Merged.pdf It's still pretty accurate for Samsung. Just follow the NFO with the xtreme firmware you download. I recommend Garyopa's 7in1 v1.3 or 2.1.

Can you explain that last part? Is this drive like the psp where it starts off with a firmware then you downgrade it? Or do you make a custon firmware?

No. I never really thought firmware was an accurate description for the PSP, but that's what Sony calls it. It's more like an operating system or dashboard on PSP. 360 firmware is firmware in the true sense. Maybe you've had to upgrade the firmware of a DVD burner at some point. It's like that. It's just a bit of info stored in the flash part of the DVD drive telling it what to do. The hacked firmware that allows people to played copied games on Xbox 360 tells the dvd drive to overlook certain checks and thus allows the games to boot.

Ok so your saying it dosn't matter what firmware the 360 is shipped with right? If not can you tell me how to find out what firmware I have?

Don't worry about what firmware comes on a 360. You are just overwriting it anyway. The real question is what drive you get. BTW all drives are flashable. There are just different methods involved. Get that PSP though process out of your head. 360 is totally different.
