Hi jon1425
Welcome to aD.
Uncheck all the unnecessary audios like the foreign ones. I normally just leave AC3 5.1.
Set the target size in Shrink to 4360. In Shrink go to edit>preferences. Pick custom in the scroll bar than type in 4360.

Recode & CloneDVD both have that opinion in the first screen. Where you see the scroll bar next to 'dvd5' click on it & pick custom.
Shrink just 'hides' in the preferences.
You'll have to keep me posted on the new burner too!

i take it jon1425 forgot to leave his settings as notify me ... anyways as mentioned welcome to ad jon1425 , basicly those older dvds are smaller size therefore do not require conperssing , conpressing is to squeese quality so it can fit on a single layer disc ( 4.7 gb dvd) and most of new dvds such as fast and the furious tokyo drift , x-men 3 and so forth are dual layer disc ( 7 or more gb dvd) . basicly just buy AnyDVD and clonedvd2 then if you burn alot of dvds the go to super media store and buy a bulk of tayo youden disc set and ur set for no bad burns aka coasters
any questions feel free to drop a line .

tell me you didnt buy DVD IDLEPRO , lol its expensive as wehere you can buy AnyDVD & CloneDVD for cheaper, and you get lifetime updates.... i highly recommed any dvd , DVD IDLEPRO bein 50 bucks as wehere AnyDVD is 20 ish when bought with clonedvd2 for a total of 49 ( when on sale which is often) or 59 .... which is a sweet deal for lifetime updates, DVD IDLEPRO seems more useless....
http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-idle-pro.htm
thats the website , i wouldnt buy it honeslty AnyDVD n clonedvd2 all the way , btw i also suggested seveal things well explained too , yet blink takes all the credit lol j/k were all here to help

lol if you cant afford to buy these then how can you afford to buy retail price dvds ???? seriously sooner or later a dvd is going to come out and unless your a knowledagle about copying dvds , your going to get in trouble dealing wieh new copy protections .... start saving up for AnyDVD n clonedvd2 as these 2 combo will be cheaper and best money can buy

yeah theirs free options that usualy takes longer or more trouble which is why i stated unless your more knowldgeable and i also said that thats the best money can buy , but yea i just like to have a complete movie done under 1 hr or heck 30 mins at most and or 5 mins reading atlest , this is possible with AnyDVD and CloneDVD 2 with all menus and options are reasonable quality...

It may take longer but A it's free and B You will get better quality.
Personally I use AnyDVD with DVD Decrypter to put the movie onto my HDD then use Recode, but only for movies that require upto 15-20% compression, everything else gets put through DVD-RB Pro with Procoder 2. Yes it takes 2-3 hours but the quality is worth the wait. :)
Anydvd with CloneDVD is the most easiest and quickest way to back up your movie, but picture quality does suffer.

I'm totally 100% with pazzini. All of my ripping tools are totally FREE -- yep, the famous DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker and the great RipIt4Me (DVD Decrypter + FixVTS) has never never never let me down. I've never experiences, seen or encountered any dvds/movies that I can not rip and or backup regardless if it's new released or old.
When it comes to quality, nothing else beat (or come close to) DVD-RB Pro + CCE SP or ProCoder 2. Personally, I'm with DVD-RB Pro + CCE SP 2.70 (with 3 passes), I've been using that since December 2005 and loving it. Anything esle 35% or lower of compressions needed, I'll simply use Nero Recode with "Advanced Analysis + HQSR + Assign Best Quality to Main Movie."
Any advanced users and or the few who owned any 45" or higher HDTV would never ever backed up their movies under 1 hr period.
Just my 2 cents.

cincyrob,

You can get the free version of DVD-Rebuilder and use the excellent free encoder HC18. The quality difference between HC and CCE is minimal. Make sure you download the installer version has it has everything you need to get started http://dvd-rb.dvd2go.org/modules.php?nam...download&cid=14
For the Pro version you have to make a $30 donation and CCE will costs $60.

For your backups I recommend Nero Recode with the settings alkohol suggested Quote: Advanced Analysis + HQSR + Assign Best Quality to Main Movie.
you can also go into the registry and alter the quality setting to max smooth for a better picture (for higher compression levels)
You can use AnyDVD with Recode or you could use DVDFab Decrypter, VobBlanker (sometimes), then use Recode to transcode and burn.
This is what I do: AnyDVD with DVD Decrypter to place the movie onto my HDD load up recode to transcode, I then use IMGBurn to create an ISO then burn using IMGBurn.
If you want to give Rebuilder a try, as suggested to cincyrob download the free installer version (use the link above) it has all you need to get started use HC18 with best selected under the quality and speed selection. HC is slower than CCE but as above it is on par with CCE as far as quality output.
