Hi, this is my first post and really my first problem with my isp. i have been using p2p for over 8 years trying to promote my own band and trying to get my music out there. recently the sister company of my isp (my isp prolog sister comp is penteledata) emailed me stating that ID softwars claimed i was sharing an illegal version of doom. which i have never once had nor ever wanted. i contacted my isp and told them to basically shove it and that they should be on my side. they told me that it doesn't matter if i am guilty or not just simply that if a complaint is made then they will shut off your service. i then made a complaint about how my isp was refusing to report ID software for repeatedly hacking my IP, at which they replied that by using and p2p i am allowing anyone and everyone access to my files and my computer. they have basically told me screw the home user that they don't want them. they are still threatening to close my access even after i offered to have a third party search my computer for any trace of the alledged file and have since ignored all my emails and ignored and not returned any of my calls.
CAN SOMEONE HELP
I WANNA SUE THE ASS OF MY ISP
AND WIN ONE FIGHT FOR THOSE OF US OUT HERE
USING P2P TO SHARE THE MUSIC I MAKE AND
WANT TO SHARE WITH THE WORLD
thanks

lol
First Off, your ISP provides you with a service which they can cancel at anytime. You cannot hope to win a case against them. If you were to read your contract it will say, 'bla bla bla reserves the right to cancel at any time bla bla bla'
Secondly, i do feel for you. It is a pain in the ass when that happens. However, be careful and use firewalls whenever possible.
Thirdly, dont even begin to do that third party crap. Leave your ISP and get another one. Over 6 new ISP start everyday in the UK and USA. Get a new one and get off your high horse and gt back down to Earth. Next you'll want to sue Microsoft for being to damn big!!
lol ;-)

If microsoft was being sued then i'd be in on the figth win or lose. But back to the problem.
Look, you'll find that there a going to be many internet relayed problem in your lifetime. Mainly because the high powers of this world fear the internet and the power it has to change things. If every person in the world shares an ISO of Windows XP well WTF is microsoft going to do then? (SOUNDS LIKE A PLAN FOR THE NEXT OS THEY MAKE LOL).
One of the first cable ISP's I joined claimimg to offer 'Unlimited' downloads( Note: i was only a newbie then). So i downloaded everything and anything i could click only to get my connection cut and a $3000 fine for 'Straining' their networks. Anyway we ended up in court and i won that round coz of their 'unlimited' claims.
<fingers are killing, it to late for at night for this lol>
Anyway i your case i don't think it would be a good idea to sue and yes i know this not your fault about the doom thing but all ID have to say is some shit about copyright and you'll go down hard me friend. The courts will have it in for you the second they find out its to do with copyright laws and i know its not fair but money and power rule this world.
If i was in your shoes id just piss this ISP off and move to another ISP(I'm on like my 15th maybe).
BTW, i know a friend who is in a record company who's helped other p2p bands before maybe he would do the same for you.
Best Of Luck Bro,
Take Care.

As best i have heard from my lawyer, is if they disconnect my services i could file suit for breach of contract and until they actually publish anything that states i am doing something i am not, i have no lible suit... as far as he knows, he is only a general practice. I have not been able to find an lawyer with expereince in internet problems. As of now i have removed my bands own music in the hope no record company decides they want my music. I have a great firewall and a i have peergaurdian and i am seeing some the same addresses trying to access my computer and they just happen to be some of the same ones listed on other sites...and thats with no p2p on my computer, talk about people who realy don't care about privacy. I know if i report the IP's that are trying to hack me they would say too bad its your fault. By the way there are no other ISP's in my area excpet dial up and i don't wanna lose my cable modem.

i don't undstand how this law system fucking works. Some dickhead can break into a house to rob it, trip on something on the floor, break his leg and sue the home owns because he did it and WIN !!!! WTF IS THAT ??? But when someone like you or me go to the courts because of ISP issues we get the finger in most cases !!! No wonder this worlds fucked. But like a said before, the big boys fear the internet.
how often do your ISP contact your about the issues ? If they contact you by phone, maybe you could tape the call. That would surely be as good as a statement on paper.

I too have had lots of ip addresses blocked by peer guardian while not using p2p! If they dont respect our privacy we should seriously just hit em back, just attack every one of them! The bastards!
