I am having a problem with one computer on our network. It keeps coming up with an error message. Something along the lines of - Windows System Error - IP Conflict on with system on network.

Something like that you know what I mean. Anyways I checked all the computers (11) on the network and they all have different IP's. All are dynamic IPs. There is one computer that is not on the wireless network and it is connected directly to the modem itself. It has a totally different ip address (doesn't start with 192).

Possible conflicts I can think of...We have to same model laser printers enabled with print sharing on the network. Each attached to a different computer. We also added a Range Expander to the network recently.

Any help would be appriciated.

The error message will tell you the MAC address of what it is conflicting with. You should also be able to see it in the Event Viewer. To try to narrow it down, you can go to http://www.coffer.com/mac_find/ and put the first 6 numbers/letters of the MAC and it will tell you what vendor it belongs to, so if you have Dell PCs and HP Laser Printers and you get a HP result then look at the printers.


To see the MAC address on a pc type ipconfig /all at a command prompt, the hexadecimal number listed by the physical address is the MAC. On a laser printer, print a test page from the printer control panel and it will list the IP and sometimes the MAC.
