I Bought a spindle of a 100 dvds and not one has wrked right on my stand alone dvd player or any of my friends players, I just ordered a 100 dvds Spindle from Taido and as soon as i get it I hope it takes care of my problem I am using a memorex dvd recoder and it is the first time i have had a problem with media.
Has any one else had problems with HP media?
the easy answer is that companies such as HP use various manufacturer's disc and you probably can't tell which ones you are going to get just by looking at the tub/package of discs.. ie one day it could be MCC discs, another day it could be CMC discs. here's an example (may not be up to date now) from a thread right at the top of this forum's page (http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_jump.cfm/155431/807083) -
HP DVD+R 4x (CMC MAG.F01)
HP DVD+R 4x (MCC.....002)
in that example they had two completely different companies' discs, but you can't tell just by picking them up. CMC MAG are from the company CMC Magnetics and MCC are from the company Verbatim.
as i say that's the easy answer, someone else will no doubt provide more info re standalone players etc etc

What are the exact issues with your players playing the HP backups?
No Disc/Dirty disc/Wrong region/Wrong format- Some sort of error when you insert a backup into those drives? This means a drive doesn't recognize your backups.
Or will they recognize them, and give you: Pixellation/Freezing/Skipping/Jumping upon playback on those stand alone players?
Those no disc errors-when a player doesn't recognize a backup, usually are due to format compatability. Switch to the opposite format. Low quality media, and even certain MID coded media can also give that error.
Now if your players show playback issues like freezing/skipping/etc. It could be a number of other reasons, again media quality is usually the #1 culprit.
Make sure your memorex burner will play it's own backups, using the pc. The quality should look near original. After that, then the stand alone players will factor in.Some of them do have a harder time with -r/+r/-rw/+rw/and dl media. You just have to find the right format that suits all your players and burner's needs.
What's the exact model# of the memorex burner?
