PS2 - Getting My HDD to Work

I've been researching, reading, downloading, and wasting CD-Rs trying to figure this thing out for 2 days now.

I've got a HDD that is on the 'UPS2 Hard Drive Compatibility Chart'. I've been trying to work with HDLoader .8b and under, and no luck.

I believe I've got a v4 PS2, but I could be mistaking. HDD is FAT, not NTFS, but see a lot of FAT HDDs on the chart.

Anyways, my PS2 isn't seeing the HDD. It's a newly reformatted HDD, so it's cleaned off.

I'm new to this, I've lost myself too deep with all this information from the past 2 days. I need help to get this thing done.

If someone could please help me by walking me through some steps, that would be so awesome.

Downlaod winhiip(google it) and the install to your pc, then put your hdd from you ps2 to you pc (set it as slave) boot your pc and then start up winhiip and select your ps2 hdd. It will now format it if its not properly formatted, if it is then go to options and select repair and winhiip will repair it. Now you can install games from you pc if you want, if not just shutdown pc and then take you hdd and put it back in to you ps2 .

I did as stated above, I did a Full Format, it intalled HDL. I did a repair to make sure I had it correct. Put the HDD back into the PS2, nothing is seeing it as a HDD...

Did I miss something?

Ok I just noticed the first time your wrote you wereusing cd-r's , now did you burn the hdl dvd on to cd's cuz you need to burn that on a dvd and use good media. Also what kind of mod do you have and does the hdl boot?

My PS2 is unmodded, its a stock v4 (if I can remember correctly).

Do I need to burn HDL onto a DVD in order to have the HDD work? Because the HDD, when ran through WinHIIP and put back into the HDD, does not show, nor does my CodeBreaker 9.0 see it as an installed or connected media.

No, it does not boot... :(

That's the problem it needs to be modded for it to work you can do a number of ways.
1. Buy swap magic with fliptopcase that will help you boot up burn games or burned hdloader
2,moddchip(more expensive)
3. Buy hdloader retail or hdadvance (I don't recommend cause there are always updating online for free) but it sould run on a unmodded ps2 with installed hdd.
4. Have a memory card expolit elf file which can be found here use the search.

So you need to do either of those things that's why you burned copy of hdloader won't boot.
