Hi im new to this all and i was thinking about getting Swap Magic 3.8 with the Flip Top i was wondering if its pretty easy to install or not? And also is it better/easier then the swap tool? I was going to get this one
Very easy to install, and far better than the dangerous slide card which can damage your drive tray.
But don't get SM3.8, get 3.6 if you can, as there are issues with 3.8 being a bit buggy.
The best way to know which fliptop is suitable for your PS2 is to contact the vendor. They'll know exactly which one fits your model.
Not on its own, you will need Swap Magic as well. Swap Magic will allow your ps2 to play imported games with different region codes.

Yes, 3.8 (the CODER version) has been infamously buggy for almost everyone who uses it, you will have trouble finding someone who says it is better than SM 3.6. Buy 3.6 with whichever disk swap method you want, I recommend the Magic Keys, or the improved version of the FTC for fat ps2s. Flip top works great, once you manage to install it without breaking it...cheap plastic... Magic Keys would be the best choice hands down, but it's only for slim ps2s. Slide tool also works fine...but it's difficult to learn how to do it right at first, and you risk breaking something while trying to figure it out. If you read the instructions and be gentile, you should be able to do it.

If you have 8 screw holes on the underside of your PS2 then these cases will work for you. But which version? V4-8? or V9/10?
Version 9/10; These consoles have an infrared remote sensor located between the power and eject buttons of the front of the console. SCPH Number on the back of the console will be from 50001 to 50004.
Any other SCPH # with 8 screw holes on the under side = V4-8.
10 Screw holes = V1-3, which means- NO, you cannot use these cases on those versions. There are V1-3 cases available but we do not sell them here.

You should be able to find out which one you need fairly easily by counting the screw holes.
