I have re-posted this thread here as I may have had it in the wrong discussion.....
I have been having issues when installing programs, and that it commences an install and part the way thru it freezes, then gives a blue screen with a Kernel In Page Stack Error and dumps the physical memory. It then restarts the OS.
It doesn't hang on the same file install or time period, sometimes very early on, sometimes in the middle, or towards the end. Sometimes it crashes, but completes the install on another attempt.
Can any help with a fix to repair this? I'm not fam with this sort of issue, and not sure where to start to fix it.

When was the last time you:

1. cleaned the system of ad/spy/malware
2. updated from microsoft
3. updated any drivers for hardware
4. added any new hardware

We'll also need the full error report if you're willing to post it...at least the error codes down at the bottom of the blue screen. You'll need to shut off auto-restart. Right click My Computer, properties. Click on the Advanced tab, then Settings under Startup and Recovery. Uncheck the "automatically restart" box, then Apply...then OK. If you do not want the memory dump files stacking up, select "none" in the drop down menu.

Hi,
spywareI run Spybot weekly to clear this stuff.
anitvirus gets run monthly
updated from MS - when i attempt to check this (is on but to confirm first) it hangs and then crashes. It seems to hang on run DLL. Here are the codes for this blue screen:
STOP: 0x000000F4 (ox00000003, 0xFEDFE8D8, 0xFEDFEA4C,0x805C7478)
I must admit I haven't had a request to download updates for a while now (6 months+)
drivers No
hardware No

Here is the error report generated when installing a program:
STOP: 0x00000077 (0xC00000E, 0xC000000E, 0x00000000, 0x0046B000)

Thanks - let me know if you need any further information

Here's the Microsoft article on that error code.

Thanks.
I have done some further review (now that I know where to look).
I have found that the second parameter in the code refers to a possible hardware issue, most likely the HDD itself.
I will run the seagate tools to detirmine what the issues are.
I will post my findings....

It appears that the HDD has alot of bad sectors, so I may need to replace the HDD. The HDD should be under warranty (only 14mths old)
