I have been backing up movies with no problem, using DVD Shrink and AnyDVD. I descided to watch X-Men 3 tonight from the backup I made, when I put it in the DVD player it opened up showing folders and not starting like it should. I clicked on the folders and it would play that part, but would then start skipping. I put the disc in my computer and it would not recognise the disc as anything at all. Could it be my media, I am using Imation DVD's. Up until now I have had no problems, could I have gotten a bad press.? Please help.

Let me begin by saying Imation is horrible media. It looks like you have a Data Dvd which is most likely the result of bad media. I had no problems backing up this one at all the same way. Get yourself some Verbatim or Sony discs and back it up again from the original disc.

Yep, they are good. As long as they are made in Japan. Which is where Taiwan is.

@taylor30

Think people living in Taiwan would be very surprised to find they are part of Japan. Do not think China would be too impressed either - have a look at a map

geographic ignorance aside, most people in these forums suggest one only buy the sony's made in japan (mij), NOT those made in taiwan. i have seen that at least with the sony's recently carried by walmart here, the sony +rs are made in taiwan, and the sony -rs are made in japan.
