I realize this is a low-tech question compared to most of the others on the forum. I'm sorry if this is not even posted in the right place, but I do not know where to get this information.

I'm burning Memorex audio CDs on my computer's burner at the slowest possible speed (4x). I'm burning them directly from Cakewalk Mediaworks. They seem to work fine for most people, but I have had two people complain that they sound fine when played for the first time, but upon subsequent playing they sound very scratchy.

Why would the discs be degrading like this? Is it a compatibility issue with their CD players? I need to be able to give people CDs that will really work for them, and I really do not know what to do. I appreciate any comments and suggestions. Thank you.
