I have DVD Shrink, Nero OEM Suite, Alcohol 120%, and AnyDVD to handle any tasks involving burning discs.
Now, I just need something that can burn a video file on my desktop onto a DVD disc to be played on a DVD Player.
Something that encodes video files such as .avi into DVD so that I can watch it somewhere other than at my computer.
Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Hey thanks for your replies.
I have used Nero and selected "Burn DVD Movie"
I then added the .avi file I wanted to burn to a DVD.
The file was 700MB, but it said it will not fit onto a normal DVD-5. It says that after the encoding of the DVD files, it will be 5GB.
This happens to almost all the DVD movies I try to burn with Nero, unless they're really small files.
Does this mean that unless the movie file is considerably smaller than 700MB, then I'm screwed(unless I get DL-DVD blanks)?
Maybe I can just get some program to encode the movie into DVD Files, and open the files with DVD Shrink to re-encode them..?
Any thoughts? Thanks.

I am certainly not using the latest version of Nero. My Nero OEM Suite is Version 6.3.1.26. It contains NeroVision Express 2.
How do I update to a new version? Is it free? Keep in mind that my Nero Suite is free and came with my DVD Burner.
Thanks!

Thanks!
I never knew I could update for free like that.
I followed the link to the Nero Clean Tool, and from that page, I went into the updates section of Nero 6.
That page has package one version 6.6.1.4.
And it has package two version 3.1.0.25.
The package one link you gave me is version 6.6.0.18.
The package two link you gave me is version 3.1.0.21.
It seems they updated their downloads some more. Should I download the newest one or would the old version you linked me to be better?
Thanks in advance.

6.6.0.18 is the most stable version of Nero 6..... at least that is what most members agree on! I haven't updated to Nero 7 at all because I don't need the extra stuff that it has. Nero 6 does it all for me! I wouldn't update to newer versions unless you want to go to ver 7.0.2.8 which they say is the stable version of Nero 7!

Done and done! Installed Nero 6.6.0.18 and everything works now. Thanks!
Now that I can burn .avi files onto DVD, another thing I would like to be able to do is to copy DVD Videos onto my hard drive.
If I have the original retail DVD of a movie, and I want to rip that DVD into .avi format onto my hard drive. What tool do I need to do this?

I have several different packages from Nero 6 thru Asamphoo. However the best one by far is Ulead's MovieFactory 5 or 5+. It is much faster than Nero 6. It has an icon for "Ulead quick drop" with witch you can drag and drop a file on the icon and it will convert the mpeg file to a dvd movie file and it does it in about 1/3 the time that nero6 requires for the same size file.
