Did you know that DVD Decrypter can burn your movie to a blank DVD?
The deal is though that DVD Decrypter can only burn an ISO and it cannot compress the movie to fit if the original files are bigger than the blank.
You can actually tell Shrink to open Decrypter at the correct time and burn the DVD.
You do this by changing a few settings in the Shrink program.
A quick guide....
Open Shrink
Select "Open Disc".
The movie analyses. Once that is done, the main Shrink window opens.
Here you can remove un-needed audio and sub-pictures by unchecking the boxes.
Make sure your blank is installed and spun up in your burner.
Click "Backup!"
The Backup DVD menu opens.
Please notice that it has different tabs.
The first Tab is the "Target Device" tab.
Your burner should be listed in the "Select Backup Target" drop-down menu.
Click the drop-down arrow.
Select "ISO Disc Image and Burn with DVD Decrypter".
Select the "Quality Settings" tab.
Uncheck the "Perform deep analysis before backup to improve quality" box. You only need this for large movies and by unchecking you can spped up the process quite a bit.
Select the "Burn Settings" tab.
Set the burn speed to 1/2 of whatever your blank DVD is rated for.
You are now ready to start the backup/burn process.
Click OK at the bottom of the Backup DVD menu and the process will begin. Shrink will open Decrypter at the appropriate time and start the burn process.
This will take a several minutes.
A couple of notes....
By default, Shrink will perform Deep Analysis. Unchecking will speed up the process. If you notice that the compression number is smaller than 70% or so, you can leave this checked.
While the process is underway, don't use your computer for anything else.
The Shrink/Decrypter combo works well for most older movies. Newer movies have more advanced encryption so you should get DVD FabDecrypter (free) and/or AnyDVD.

Sorry I got tied up. Here whats going on. When I told it to convert a file I did not know it was doing stuff in the background. It ending up working but it took 3 hours to convert a 45 min show. Is this the best way? I have over 80 movies and dvd videos to transfer. Do you have any other ways to convert and send it to hard drive files and playing on computer?

Why would you want to convert to an .avi?
Look at my first reply where I said:Quote:
The first Tab is the "Target Device" tab.
Your burner should be listed in the "Select Backup Target" drop-down menu.
Click the drop-down arrow.
Select "ISO Disc Image and Burn with DVD Decrypter".
Instead of ISO Disc Image and burn with DVD Decrypter, select Hard Disk Folder instead.
For the target folder give it some sort of a name, like the name of the movie.
Please note that because you are burning to a hard drive location, you don't need any compression. Look on the Compression Settings tab, right side of the main Shrink screen, and change the drop-down menu from automatic to No Compression.
Edit:
This will make a set of DVD-Video files, like the ones found on the original DVD. You will have a VIDEO_TS folder with a bunch of .vobs, .bups and .ifos in it.

Frank that is where I am getting messed up. Your first post says burn to iso, that works fine, but for making dvd copy. I want to play only from my hard drive as a file. Will iso play from a certin player like Nero in iso format? If not what do I need to make it play in Nero, media player, klite codec pack media player, easy cd creator. or what ever player is best. I will get it. Thanks

If using DVD Decrypter u should rip in the file mode so u will have a video_ts folder which will play in Nero Showtime, or any other dvd player program like WinDVD, PowerDVD.
Although if u are doing this just to watch the file from ur PC making the DVD into a AVI file instead would save u a lot of HDD space.
If i understood ur post correctly

I suggested making an ISO is because that is the format needed for DVD Decrypter to burn. Since you are not going to burn to a DVD, then you do not need to have Shrink make an ISO. I suggested that you use Shrink to make uncompressed DVD-Video files instead.
This is simply a matter of changing the backup target to "hard disk folder".
If you plan on doing a conversion to .avi then the files will be on your hard drive, ready for further processing.
I don't know if this is relevent or not. I had a small .avi clip so I converted it to DVD-Video with ConvertXtoDVD. This is what I ended up with.
.avi size: 57.8 MB
Size after converting to DVD-Video: 9.53 MB
In this case the DVD-Video takes up less room. I don't fool around with anything but DV-AVI so I'm probably missing something here, ie compression formats, DivX, etc.

And now they are calling it Nero 7 Ultra Edition Enhanced.
So I suppose they are the same... I go by the version #.
Current version: 7.5.1.1
Showtime works OK. Just be aware that your Nero is made up of many different programs. You can get by with a lot less if all you need is a media player. While you are looking at it though, take a look at Recode. What you see there is a continuation of the DVD Shrink program. Both programs were created by the same person.
