All of a sudden, once having completed a deadline project and ready for exporting, I get this:

ASSERT FAILURE

FAILURE : (*ClipCache) (TheID)
line : 42

d:/work/jukebox/main/c/s-clipq.c

It asks me to either Debug, Continue Ignore or Terminate. If I choose Debug it shuts down Premiere.

When I click Continue it give me:

Failure : theclip
d:/work/jukebox/main/c/s-clipq.c
Line : 1464

When I click Continue, or any of the others again it shuts down Premiere.

Whenever I try to open that project I get this just when it almost done opening the project.

Please help. Please.

Ello, I us the software a lot, have you reinstall the software, over the top, dont delete the programe but install over the top.... have you setup the programe correctly ie. create a folder with in the programe, for when you are capturing the sound and video, the computer will save the files in the folder,if not do so :-)

try it and email me back if it works

I'm getting a similar problem trying to export a project through Premiere 6.5 MPEG Encoder (upgraded 1.3beta). The indicator of the converted frames starts running, then freezes, and later on shows:
Assert Failure
Failure: startPos>=0 & startPos <
File C:\work\rockford\wind\c\win\s-vfw-file
Line 182
Continue/Ignore All/Debug/Terminate

No matetr what you do, it refuses to work. I have VAIO PCV-RZ24G, upgraded to 1G RAM, Internet through the USRobotics Router (no software fire wall), native Mcafe antivirus, and DVDit(unistalled VAIO DVD player before DVDit per their recommendation). I reinstalled the whole system, and Premiere several times, upgraded MPEG decoder to 1.3beta, but the damn thing frrezes anyway. I'm pretyy pissed off about it, and contemplate installing a clean XP Professional without all the SONY goodies that came with the computer. If such a dramatic measure can be avoided, I would appreciate an advice.

After looking high and low I found the answer to this problem in the forums on Adobe's site.

Thier is a file in the Premiere program folder called Prem60.ini. Usually located in Program files\adobe\premiere 6.5. Open this file into notepad or any ascii editor and add the lines below to the bottom of the file. Restart premiere and away you go.
