MAD Wildlife Eye and DCR DVD92- help

I have a MAD Wildlife EYE and a Sony DCR DVD92. Accorsing to sony the remote port and a LANC port are the same. According to the WLE instructions after pressing record on the camcorder the wildlife eye should take over and turn off the camcorder- this is not happening. Can anyone out there help or give me any ideas? Thanks. Also- anyone gotten these devices to work togther?
