Can modding my PS2 block my Internet access ?

I've seen somewhere (can't find it anymore) that Modding my PS2 would prevent me from using it with internet. I'm using my console to play FFXI and i need to keep Internet avaible. Can anyone confirm me this please.

you still can play burned games online just that it takes some steps.you must patch the game with new DNAS code.get the details on http://www.ps2nfo.com/on-line.html

just make sure that you can turn the mod chip that you're getting off and when you go to play FFXI turn the mod off
