Microsoft's Sound Recorder error message

i am trying to record my voice using Microsoft's Sound Recorder but everytime i press record it comes up with an error message saying 'Another application is recording audio. Stop recording with this other application and then try to record with Sound Recorder again'.

I dont have any applications open thats recording. Can someone please help me so i can record.

what version of windows are you using...i didn't know sound recorder still came loaded with windows.

try using Audacity. it is a free audio editor/recording utility that should work much better and give you many more options and features.

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:
