Definition: The Cyclops were represented as one-eyed giants in Greek mythology. Cyclops are also called Cyclopes. According to Hesiod, the Cyclops were the sons of Uranus and Gaia, whose names were Argos, Steropes, and Brontes. The cyclops, titans, and Hecatonchires or hundred-handers were all the children of Uranus and Gaia. Uranus kept all his children imprisoned in Gaia.
The Cyclops then assisted Cronus in his overthrow of Uranus, but he sent them to Tartarus for the favor. When Zeus set the Cyclops free, since they were metal workers and blacksmiths, they gave him the gift of thunder and lightning. The cyclops also created Poseidon's trident, and Hades' Helmet of Darkness.
Apollo slew the cyclops when they struck his son Asclepius with lightning.
Homer's Cyclops, the sons of Poseidon, share with Hesiod's version size, strength and the single eye. The giant Polyphemus, whom Odysseus encounters, is a cyclops.
I know about the whole thing with the 3 cyclops coming from gaia and uranus and helping to overthrow cronus, but apparently one of the cyclops had 3 kids. not sure who they were
