I just bought swap magic 3.6 and flip top cover and installed em no problem. When i try to run a game it gives me something about a non valid ps2 disc, im trying to run imported games on my US ps2
Make sure that you're using the correct SM disk- i.e. use the DVD Swap Disk for DVD games and the CD Swap Disk for CD games. Keep in mind that SM will not play ps1 game backups. Does your swap magic work at all- i.e. does it play backups of domestic games? Very rarely, swap magic disks can be defective- if it won't play ANYTHING, this may be the problem.
Please post back and specify EXACTLY what you are doing, what disks you are using, and what version ps2 you have- you may need a secondary loader, or some other fix. Some games need special fixes to work with SM, see http://www.swapmagicfix.com . Also, make sure you are doing the swap procedure correctly.
If it's not one of these problems, it could be that your ps2 laser needs re-tuning. Do original ps2 games, original dvd movies, and original cd games work? If not, you may need to do the "white knob" method to correct your laser.
OK
I am using a 3.6 swap magic DVD, trying to play games that are imports and worked on my ps2 with a modchip b4 it broke. My EXACT procedure is as follows:
1:Insert DVD SM into drive, wait till it loads
1.5: sometimes it gives me the Disc read error for just this disc causing me to restart the system several times.
2: when the screen loads and says to load program and to choose screen setting. I leave it on normal open the flip top and place my import of Prince of Persia 2 thrones in it.
3:i Press load progam and it gives me the NOT A VALID PS2 DISC message, note that i HAVE gotten it to run 3 times mysteriously, yet i have no idea how
Funny thing is i fixed the DRE so it loads up no problem now, im sorry about the triple posts but i really need to know what to do know, i pop'd in my burned copy of PoP 2 into the drive when SM gives me the ok to and it still says not a valid ps2 disc, it works on my friends mod chipped ps2
@CHEESEPIE - instead of running the risk of a 'bump' on the head, do some searching for yourself while you're awaiting an answer (and have some patience). plus most questions can be answered with a combination of the search function and a google search
