Swap magic is a disc that lets you play copied games, or boot exploit disc, without modchip.
As you have access to a modded PS2 the exploit (mem card hack) will be very easy, there is a program called Independence Compiler, it will guide you through the whole process of it. If you find it hard to use then try finding a guide for it, or ask here.
I have done the exploit using nearly every way possible so i will be able to guide you through the process.

ok so i got an internal 250 gig hard drive i can use to save the games in. Right now i still need to get the network adapter to connect the hard drive to the PS2. Then when i do that with my friends ps2 i can save a PS1 game's data into my mem card.
Ok so now i need to know how to program the PS1 game with HD loader?
Also what program do i need on my computer to read an Hd loader formatted Hard drive? i need to know this to put the game data into the Hard drive.

you dont need to put any game data on your HDD or mem card, what you need to do is put a file on your memory card that whenever certain ps1 game code is detected it loads a certain file.
The program you need is called Independence compiler 4.0, it will extract the code from the ps1 game and let you add all files you want like hdloader then output it as a cd image to burn. That you then boot up on your mates ps2.

well im only using his ps2 to load Hd loader because his is modded. Then once i get the modified PS1 game data on my mem card i will bring the game, card and HDD to my PS2 (with no modchip). I dun think it changes anything, i thought i would just let u know incase it does change something.

nope that should be fine, you only need the modchip once to boot your burned disc, after that its not needed

Swap magic is an alternative to a modchip. But you dont need to bother with it as your friend has a mod.

oh also i dun wanna use burned cd's, i'd prefer to use my hard drive and put games in it. But a friend of mine told me that if the hdd has been formatted with hd loader then the computer will only be able to see that its been connected but won't be able to read it without a specific program. He didn't tell me what that program was called, do u know?

Have you downloaded it yet?
If not then grab the lastest version from sksapps.com under the memorycard section.
What you need is an actual legit ps1 game (any will do), the program itself explains what you need to do and let it keep the default boot.elf that is included on there and just add hdloader to the apps section.

it should create its own data folder, or is this a folder for the program to run?, all you need is hdloader.elf and a ps1 game in your cd drive. It also creates its own boot.elf which unless you change it is ulaunchelf i think, which is good.

http://www.packetnews.com/forum/viewtopi...08c08d49dcc7273
according to it i need a boot.elf file (which i already found on the net) and a folder with certain files on it which should have come with independence compiler when i downloaded it but it didn't come with it.
The part i need the folder for is the "files" tab.
