I just bought a new PS2 game that has the blue back. It will not play in my PS2 console. I've tried tape on the game and also turning the console on it's side--still didn't work. I have not tried to clean the laser--too risky. Does anyone know if this game will work if I burn it to a regular cd (dvd?)?

AND, if that will work: I've read quite a bit about burning PS2's, and it is my understanding that you either need a "mod chip" or a "swap magic disk" to be able to play these burned cds. Is that correct? If that is not correct, is there a way to burn this game with free software? I have Roxio, DVD Decrypter, and others already on my computer. Sorry if this has been covered, but the more you read, the more you get overwhelmed with info. Thanks!

blue bottom discs are cd games. Burning it to dvd nedia won't work without modifying the image (adding dvd check) in this case if your ps2 reads original dvd games without problems (gold bottom discs) then it would work with modchip or swap magic. The problem is a lot of ps2s have crappy lasers (specially the old ones) and have difficulty reading cd based games. The only things you can try to do right now without a mod or swap magic on your system you will think are probably "too risky" as they involve opening the ps2.

NTSC DNAS threads.
