im such an idiot lol i have the wrong cables i had my xbox set up wrong was trying to use a crossover cable threw my xbox to my router i realized this is why i am not getting connection to my xbox i went back threw and read this is a commen mistake now does it have to be a plain old straight threw cable or a special xbox straight threw cable
im one step closer to being able to do it im going to circuit city soon to buy a straight threw cross over cable and try it again hopefully i will have a break threw in getting in i have all the nescary programs im just setting ips wrong and so fourth i will be fixing this soon please forgive my ignorance i hope upgrading the harddrive isint as hard of a process lol if anyone has any suggestions to the best kind of name brand straight threw cable to buy and the correct settings i need to have my xbox at please tell me thanks

This will definatly help you. Your using a router so yeah you don't need a crossover cable, just a reguler j45 or whatever......... Wireless you need to change your X BoX settings from static to dchp, you'll get it just keep trying. Also, remember somtimes other adapters will screw things up.
