I know the Ps3 controllers are bluetooth and come with some kind of USB cable to charge it. Is there no option to buy regular usb controllers? When having the USB attached to the bluetooh controllers is it still running wireless or is it using the wired USB part?

By regular i think you mean either wired controllers,or ones like the 360's.The ps3 doesnt ahve any wired ports for controllers,so no.
Obviuosly if the usb charge cable is attached to the controller it would be charging and also would be wired,take the cable off and it's wireless.But in any case.while the usb cable is connected it will be running wirelessly,the usb cable is only to send power so the controllers battery can recharge,nothing else.

Yea my guess is the USB is only going to be used for chargin the controller and not send controller input info to the ps3 also since if you were to plug and unplug the controller repeatedly while playing there would be some sort of delay/lag from the controller switching from wired to wireless output settings, I THINK ;)
