I've ripped some movies to a single VOB file, then deleted the extra files. The file plays in the DivX player on Windows, Mplayer under Linux, and when renamed to *.mpg, the file plays in Windows Media Player. However they all have issues with fast-forward, or skipping. WMP thinks the file is 1453:03:28 long, and aborts if you try to jump forward. Mplayer has similar issues.

It appears that some kind of internal index is corrupted.

Is there any program that can go though and re-index the file correctly?

Mpegutils reports numerous VOB ID Number 1, as well as Cell ID Number 1. I suspect the players are getting confused each time they see a VOB 1 or Cell 1 marker.

Are there any tools that will read it in and write it back as a single VOB? Linux based tools would be best, but windows is usable too.
