DVDx 2.2 Conversion Problem

I have been using DVDx 2.2 that I downloaded from here to try and convert movies to MPEG so I can rearrange them to fit on one DVD. I sucessfully did two movies that are a little over 20 mins long, but I am having trouble with getting one of the movies that is 55 mins long. I first ripped the movies to VOB files to the hard drive and I was using those to create the MPEG. Has anyone used this program for this purpose that may have tips or hints on what to do. I am try to consolidate some exercise videos for my sister on a couple DVDs. There are 7 discs total and most of them are like 20 mins which means I can fit 3 or 4 on one disc. If there is a better program to do this please let me know. Once I get them in MPEG format, I can easily arrange them and make a menu for the disc and we can store the originals in a safe place.
