Are the 'Datawrite Ritek' good for backing up PS2 games? Are they just like a ritek g03? This site sells them: http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acatalog/FOR_DVD_R_RW_CLICK_HERE.html

I now know these discs are g04's. So are they as reliable as the unbranded g04's?

They are probably not grade A material, though they could be. I don't think you will have a problem with them. A lot of the unbranded discs are also not grade A. Might i suggest the Clone Disc fron http://www.dvd-and-media.com/ as i found them exceptionally good!

So are you saying the Datawrite ritek discs are NOT grade 'A' material? I have heard many people say these are good discs for backing up ps2 games. Please bare with me.

Signature fields are so annoying

May I add:

Are you saying the unbranded ritek are actually better quality than the datawrite ritek? Also, has anyone ordered any overprints? Are these just the same quality in terms of the writing dye?

Signature fields are so annoying

Gerenally, they are not grade a material, no, but thats not to say they are not for sure. Usually it will be marked Grade A on the website.

They are good for PS2 and Movies

What about overprints? Do these work in the exact same way?

They dont mention whether they are grade a or not. Datawrite do not usually tend to be grade A, they are usually sourced from ASIA as grade B. I could be wrong. However, i do know that http://www.dvd-and-media.com sell Grade A Clone Disc printable Ritek G04's, I have some, and they are exceptional quality. My advice is to buy them.

And will these discs work for ps2 and movies? Have you tested the 2x discs? I think I will get some of them. They should be the same as the 4x in terms of dye shouldn'y they?
A huge thnx for your help so far. (keep it up)

No probs, yes they will be as good as the 4x. They are one of the best discs available - if you want no coasters - this is your disc.

I've just read something on the blank disc shop site that has put me mind in doubt. The White Label (4x) DVD-R in packs of 25 has been called 'B Grade'. This makes me wonder if this means all stock NOT labelled 'B Grade' is 'A Grade'.
Take a look at the link: http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acatalog/FOR_DVD_R_RW_CLICK_HERE.html
What do you think.
PS. Have you got msn messenger and a hotmail address? Please P.M me with it. It will make it easier to talk.

I bought 50 Datawrite white discs. blankdiscshop substituted them when the ones I ordered were out of stock.

So far one has worked and 5 are coasters. There are the white 4x discs that have overprinted labels. I can no longer see them on datawrite's web site or blankdiskshop's either.

I have emailed blankdiscshop and am hoping to get them exchanged for something that works.

Does anyone know how to identify the manufacturer on a superdrive-equipped powerbook?

I'll also try some in the office later today and see how they go on a different drive.

I've no idea what sort of dye is used I'm afraid.

I would like to add that blankdiscshop got back to me within a day and have offered to exchange the discs for some alternates of my choosing. I am quite impressed.

Unlike Formac, who are unable to supply a firmware upgrade for the Pioneer DVR-104 in their Firewire case. The pioneer upgrades don't work and now we're stuck with a recorder that doesn't handle 4x media.

Anyway because both our burners are really only 2x models, I'm going to get some 2x discs and try them.

Yeah, they are very helpful and friendly. Ask them for a quality Grade A Ritek G04 and they should be able to sort you out with one. Otherwise try http://www.dvd-and-media.com and get the clone disc ritek which are amazing

No commision, i have tested over 11 different types of discs for 3 different companies. Bigpockets, SVP and DVD-and-media. So far, the best disc i have found has been the clone disc ritek from dvd-and-media and the traxdata (ritek). i recommend the disc, because they are what i use also. I have 4 sets of 8 different discs ill be testing over the next few weeks and i will display the results on afterdawn.
