Download SmitFraudFix: http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip

- Unzip it to your desktop, do not run program yet

Download AVG Anti-Spyware: http://downloads.grisoft.cz/softw/70/fil...up-7.5.0.50.exe

- Install and update...do not run a scan yet...

Download SUPERAntiSpyware: http://www.superantispyware.com/downloads/SUPERAntiSpyware.exe

- Install and update, do not run a scan yet...

Download CCleaner, slim version: http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4191

- Install ccleaner

Boot into safe mode, instructions here: http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml

or your can download this program to boot into safe mode: BootSafe http://superadblocker.com/bootsafe.html

Boot in safe mode...Run CCleaner, click on "Options" on the left side, click on 'Advanced', uncheck Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hous...Then click on "Cleaner" on the left side. Choose "Run Cleaner" (on the bottom right). This may take a few moments...

Then,open up SmitFraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd

Then choose option #2. hit "Enter"

You will be prompted: Do you want to clean the registry? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found): Replace infected file? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to restore a clean file.

A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

After that, while in safe mode (if you had rebooted after a prompt from smitfraud, you'll need to boot into safe mode again), run AVG Ant-Spyware. Select Scanner, then select the Settings tab and click on "Recommended Actions", select Quarantine. Click on the Scan tab and select Complete System Scan... The scanning may take a long time depending how big your hard drive is and how much stuff you have...

Run SUPERAntiSpyware, choose "Scan your computer", make sure 'Perform Complete Scan' is enabled, choose "next"....this will take some time...

After you are done, run Hijack This (Run a system scan only) and delete these entries if they exist:

After you are done, please post a log from smitfraud, which is usually located @ C:\rapport.txt, log of AVG Anti-Spyware, and a new Hijack This log

Thank You.

I was so worried last night, I stayed up dealing with this issue.

Someone provided me with the following link which seems to have worked for me. What do you think? http://www.precisesecurity.com/computer-virus/avmyzor-may01.htm

Does it miss anything important? If not, It may be simpler to direct folks to this link when and if they have a problem with W32.Myzor.fk@yf.

I know the instructions and/or steps were easy for me to follow.
and---although it seems to have worked, reviewing your steps to me has me wondering if I have left anything important out.

What say you

Because thug121 took the time to help me and for my own peace of mind, I went ahead and followed thug121's instructions. The process was pretty easy actually. My problem is certainly resolved.

Further, when I did it the other way, I recognized 7 trojan virus but could not simply understand how to remove it. This manner provided by thug121 did it easily.

Thanks. Here is a copy of my Logfile of Hijack This now.

Have you noticed anymore problems?

I noticed you have a lot of processes (especially anti-spyware) programs start when you boot your computer. This may slow-down your computer if you do not have that much memory (RAM). If you have lots of memory, like 1 GB (1024 megabytes), then you should be fine...

Is Norton also your firewall?

To follow-up and prevent further infection, make sure you have the latest critical updates from Microsoft.

You will need to use Internet Explorer to get the updates from Microsoft. Link is here:

http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en

After downloading and installation, you may have to restart yoru computer...

To prevent active-x based spyware/malware, please download Spyware Blaster: http://javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

- Install and don't forget to update! After updating, you'll need to enable all protections.

Just to be sure that some of the adware/spyware is not saved by system restore (your computer makes periodic system save points), we will need to clear the old ones and create a new one. One that you can restore to, if re-infection occurs.

To do this, right-click on My Computer, select Properties. Click on the tab labeled: System Restore. Place a check-mark next to Turn off System Restore on all drives. On the bottom right, click Apply and then click Ok.

This will clear all prevously saved restore points. Go back to the System Restore screen again, but thsi time, Uncheck what you did, click "apply" and then "ok."

We need to create a new one...

Click 'Start', select "All Programs", scroll to "Accessories", scroll to "System Tools", and then scroll down to System Restore.

The System Restore page will appear...select Create a new restore point. Click "next", thenunder restore point description, you can write down an event name of your choosing, like: "Clean computer state" or something similar. Then click Create. the process will take a few moments. That's it!

Let us know if there's additional help you need or concerns you might have...

Also, your Java is out of date. Uninstall it through the Add/Remove feature in the Control Panel. Install the latest one (1.5.0.9) from here: http://filehippo.com/download_java_runtime/

I have not noticed anymore problems.

I have an 80 gig hard drive and 512 RAM DDR ---- I do think I have lots of space and plenty of memory.

However< I did delete all of the processes (especially the "free" anti-spyware) programs that could have slowed down my start when I boot my computer. I thought it may not be necessary to have so many "free" anti virus and/or spyware programs.

I do have Norton Anivirus and I assume I do have Windows firewall ON.
I assume I have NORTON firewall since I see the following in the HIJack This Log:

O23 - Service: Norton AntiVirus firewall Monitor Service (NPFMntor) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\IWP\NPFMntor.exe

I did follow your last instructions to the letter and still have Spyware Blaster on my computer now. ARE THERE ANY ANTI VIRUS OR SPYWARE PROGRAMS THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE DELETED. If so, please let me know which ones to put back.

On the other hand, are there still some that I should delete.

Check out the following which I just ran:

By deleted, you mean uninstalling, right?

The log indicates that you are running HijackThis from inside the zipped folder. This is inadvisable because if you were to delete some entries, back-ups will not be saved...

Anyways, I did not find anything malicious within your log, though...

In the future, I would suggest to update Norton, Windows Defender, and any other security programs you have and run weekly scans... This is important because there are new viruses, trojans, adware, malware being created and released into the wild, everyday...

It's better to have an alternative anti-spyware scanners because not all detect everything...

Recommended List of Anti-Spyware Programs:

AVG Anti-Spyware - http://ewido.net/
SUPERAntiSpyware - http://superantispyware.com/
Ad-Aware SE - http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php
Spybot: Search & Destroy - http://safer-networking.org/en/index.html

You probably don't need all of them, but if one is not working, you can try other ones, also...

Good luck!
