I'm looking to get something for my Slim PS2 to play burnt games and imported games, and I just discovered Swap Magic. I just saw it's price listening as 39.99$ and I'm wondering: Is this too good to be true? I've seen many other mod chips at my local stores being sold for 100$ plus 5 games. So, why is it that Swap Magic is so cheap? Can I really trust this?

Swap Magic works fine, i have it for my fat PS2, but if you buy it for your slimline you need the magik keys, my friend has them and the backups work fine.

Buy Swap magic and magic keys.
No soldering needed, and you keep your warranty.
The only problem that I can think of with swap magic is that you cant play Dual layered (DVD-9) games. (E.g. God of war) (Oh well you can, but you have to rebuild the game into a DVD-5)
But most of the games out now are on Dvd-5's anyways.
Swap magic is a good cheap alternative to modchips.

what are thos magic keys you talk about, i installed fliptop on my fat ps2 and my slim and they work fine, i didnt install anything like what you are saying.
I did recieve a little baggie with plastic pieces, but i thought that had to do with the slide card ( which im not using ).
and the guide i used didnt mention magic keys.
does it make a difference ? and are they for the fat ps2 ? thanks

Alright thanks for clearing things out. Also i know i may not be in the right place for this but you seem to know what your talking about <Auslander> ,
IMBNes works great on my psx... and not on my ps2 i understand swap magic wont do the trick for that. Is there another Nes emulator i could use on the ps2.
I found ( InfoNES ) but it says its for Hd not SM. can i use the .elf file from that with the system file of IMBNes to creat a ps2 disc ( the same way i did for Snes Station ? )
thanks for taking the time to read and respond.

Infones works with SM.
Ive created a cd with it on. But the problem i have with it is that, when your playing the game the cd still runs. Which I dont think is really needed. And I dont know if it is or not putting strain on my laser. So I never use it, unless they make an updated version of it to stop the cd spinning after loading the game.
Also what is this Snes-station trick you tried? And from what I heard IMBnes is a ps1 game, thats why it dont work with SM

what do you put on the cd for infones?? for snes staion theres a elf and a systeme file. and for the infones i downloaded theres only an exe and elf. do i burn those ?

Um ill check it out 2night.
The zip file I Downloaded, has all the files there, and had a txt file saying. Burn these files 2 disc and chuck all the roms in the rom folder :).
I dont know what the exe file is for. I know you need a system file though.

It doesnt matter on gameplay,
But I just worry that it is putting more strain on my laser when it is not needed. (I dont know if it does or not though, maybe it is just spinning without using the laser). But I would like my laser to last as long as possible while I play my back ups, and I dont want to wear it more just by playing a nes emulator :)

I agree with you on that, but does the laser always work when spinning? if it doesnt then it wouldnt matter. It can spin all it wants lol.

Thats what I dont know.
I rather not risk it until I know for certain :)
Maybe theres an updated version that stops the disc. Like how the pgen one works.
Ill check up on it another time.
