* i discovered a way to use both(risky though i don't know if the ps2 will read both.)
*i have multiple burning programs like alcohol etc....

Unfortunantly you can't make your own boot disc, if we were able to then people could boot games without the need for a boot disc, you MUST buy an ORIGINAL boot disk such as Swap Magic. They're pretty cheap and they do a hell of a lot of stuff.

Hey i think im in the right spot as this is about my HDD.Im using a 120 Gig Maxtor..ive got it formatted with newest HDadvance.ive ordered a DMS4 EZI se,does anyone know if i will have to reformat it with the dms hd formatter or can i leave it as is,and if i do reformat with dms hd formatter, will it delete my hdd as ive read a few places it will...any feedback on this will be greatly appreciated as ive got about 108 gigs worth of games that i dont have the discs for anymore due to someone stealing a cd case of almost all my games.thanks anyone.

Since you're getting a dms4 modchip I assume you will be flashing it with ToxicOS. I believe (not positive) that it will not have to be reformatted, HOWEVER! if it does you can hook up the hard drive to your computer and use winhiip to transfer the games you can't afford to have formatted over onto your computer then you can format the drive and reload the games back on off of your computer.
As I said I don't believe you have to, but just in case it asks this is what you need to do.

Well thats a handy bit of info @ meyer_m...and it seems simple enough..is winhiip pretty much a drag and drop..then drag and drop again process...helpful so far though.yeah being that i mainly deal with non us released games..itd be a pitty to let em all go down the drain.ive about 500 bucks worth of games on my HDD.and it was a painstaking process to even find and order them,as some are out of production now.

Cool deal.so tell me is there drive size limitations on the dms4 hdd compatability..would i only be able to use my 120 gig internally..or would i be able to use a bigger hdd through a usb connect?

Don't bother with usb, it's slow and has horrible compatability.
HDLoader (or toxicos) allows you to use hard drives (IDE) over 120gigs no problem.

sweetness.i guess it goes to show on here theres alot of people who think they know what they are talking about, then alot more who actually do,and from the sounds of things your one of the ones who do.so i appreciate it.btw..you know why a p2 would stop reading dvd movies, but plays back original dvd games and DVD9 games and backed up dvd games perfectly..think thatd be a laser going out or something on the moboard..it just stumps me.

I don't have a fat ps2 but it is either in need of a slight (very slight) laser adjustment or just a lens cleaning.

damnit son.its the 3rd laser ive had in it..previous 2 were from previous p2s which one was dropped and the other someone stepped on but lasers were good still.yeah ive found the HD-7 laser is the best under long usage so far.i dont know what they have in the slimlines as ive never used one.just tired of seeing the bsod when i try to play a dvd in it.anyways thanks meyer_m for coming through yet again.thanks for that winhiip direct got all the hdd stuff solved.

I BOUGHT IT WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT AND I DONT PLAY FINAL FANTISY OR SOCOM, SO REALLY ITS JUST A WAIST, BUT I COULD USE IT FOR OTHER THINGS. I TRYED TO INSTALL IT IN MY COMPUTER BUT IT DOESNT RECOGNIZE IT. ARE THERE ANY PROGRAMS I CAN INSTALL ON IT TO MAKE IT VISIBLE ON MY COMPUTER? PLS TELL ME

yes you can but you need to use the memory card exploit and cogswap to do so. i have done this and i have everything you need except for what you need on your end like a psx game and your ps2.
