Minor issue with 4.0A and original games

Everything is working fine, except the original games. If I turn on my 360 with no game inserted, and I insert the original game, the dashboard is stuck at "Reading Disc." If I turn it on with an original game in the drive, it's stuck at the Xbox 360 logo screen. I assume this is when the drive switches to the Slow Read mode? However, games won't load.

BUT, if I boot a back up first, and then insert an original, it works just fine.

Again, not a big issue at all, I just wish I knew why it did that.
