Lynksis WRT 54 G. Nine hours ago, changed the password to get in to admin, (while connected to a cat 5), Turned off the SSID broadcast, checked the outgoing logs, pretty much blank. My IP address from router was 192.168.1.124. This morning therre is all kind of outgoing logged activity for someone who was dhcp'd address 192.168.1.100. I copied and pasted a bunch of these IP addresses into a browser. Here's where they went: Amazon Honor system click awards; Two diff Paypal's; Doubleclick Advertising Server; German COmputer Kommunication website; a bunch of blog sites, at leat one was all about security.

There were lot's more IP's, many didn't resolve to a website. Point being, I have WES security (or a similar acronym) encryption. A. How are they breaking into my network? B. Should I be worried?

Also lot's of wierd incoming IP's hitting the same port, 32794. From places like India, Guatemala, the States, unresolvable IP's, etc. All this attn from my international neighbors is flattering, but maybe they are up to no good.....

Hit the reset button in the back of your router and start over with new passwords, admin login and 128bit wep encryption. You may have been hacked from the way it sounds.

Welcome to wireless. One other thing you might be able to do (I don't know that router well) is to restrict connecting MAC addresses to only those of your PC(s).

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

Indeed, make sure you use the strongest encryption possible, change passwords and usernames often, restrict access to your computer's mac adresses, and hope it doesn't happen again.
And lest i forget, welcome to the wonderous worlds of hackers and wardrivers.
