I have a movie that I will have to split on to two disks. It's too big to use DVD shrink (I don't want to compress it that much). Besides the VOB files, which files (using smart ripper) do I include in my VIDEO_TS folder on both disks to get it to play in my stand alone DVD player?? I'm using Roxio 6 to burn it as a data file (I know everyone hates Roxio but it seems to work for me) Do I also have to add the VTS 01 0.IFO file or do I have to add others' as well??

Thanx, Kevin

Have you tried DVD2One 1.2 as it now deals with films 2+hrs is a most excellent fashion ?

How is this better than DVD Shrink (when the movie is too long DVD Shrink doesn't help me since I don't want to compress a movie 50%?)

Thanx, Kevin

hi

how big is this movie? and what film is it?

also cant you just select movie in DVD Shrink? did you want the extras/menus?

and IFOEdit can make your files for vobs!

name them in order VTS.01 to VTS.09 say...

then IFOEdit!

Thx..

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

Well I want to split some movie too (harry potter) and don't want to lose quality. So when I can backup the movie on 2 discs it would be great. Does someone have a clue how to split the movie?

If you want to split just the movie, you can't just seperate the files and re-name. Rip as normal then use IFOEdit (free) to split to 2 DVD-Rs.

To burn you should then have all the files of both parts of the film in VIDEO_TS folders as normal, but you also need to make sure that there is the VIDEO_TS.BUP, VIDEO_TS.IFO, and VIDEO_TS.VOB in both folders. (which will be created by IFOEdit if you check the right box)

You should also drag across the original VTS_XX_0.VOB file to both new VIDEO_TS folders. (XX is the same number as the film which has been ripped.)

Make sure that once this is done, in IFOEdit you open both new VIDEO_TS.VOB files and click the 'GET VTS SECTORS' button in both DVD-R folders, or the disc won't play in a set top.

If you want to include extras and menus it can still be done but it is somewhat more tricky.

I used to do it quite happily before DVDshrink or DVD2One came along which now make it much easier.

why not just use DVD X Copy, always works for when I want to keep all extras and split on 2 disks with no loss of quality
