Hi there,
I am new to burning dvd's, I have tried Nero and decided to use the software that came with my digital video camera. After uninstalling Nero all my Mpeg 4 files which I used to play with Media Player Classic before installing Nero(it changed them for the Nero Player) cannot be played. I get an error message in Media Player Classic saying 'cannot load any source filter'. It does annoy me that software programs mess up your system( I cannot get Nero Scout out of there), I am now using Roxio and getting that to work took some time as at first, it did not detect a drive(due to some remnant of Nero on my system) but they helped me with that. I guess I have to reinstall Media Player Classic(a very simple but effective program, and free!) but as I no longer have these video files on my memory card I want to be sure I do not mess things up any more. I stll can add/burn them with Roxio but I would like to get Media Player Classic working again.
I hope someone can help.
Thanks
Andrew
P.S. Can anybody can recommend a good MPEG 4 joiner?
When you uninstalled Nero, you uninstalled the Nero MP4 codec. You might be able to get everything working again by installing one of the K-Lite codec Packs from http://www.codecs.com. The Mega codec Pack has the latest MPC too. Install with mostly the default options unless you really think you need or don't need something.
I don't of any "joiner" that actually works. Most of those things don't work at all or are spotty at best. Here's a list of editors though: http://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=108#108
-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.
