Hi Folks!
Back in the dungeon of software upgrades! LOL Anyway to cut a story short Ive installed windows XP pro and most of it was "honky Doree" but for a glitch with my dvd backups.

Dvd fab and shrink work as they normally did on the old platform of windows 98. But when DVD Decrypter "sparks up" it seems as though its become labour intensive" trying to give birth to Quads...LOL.

I cant understand why this is happening?? Ive checked the dma settings but im not sure about it. Ive followed other posts on how to enable DMA function and these are good guides. Ive checked both primary and secondary and have this going in the next pics...

the settings seem AOK I think???? but when I open the Nero info tool it shows a different story as is here,,,,,

This actually shows that DMA is not on,,,WTF????

Ive tried uninstalling the drivers and reboot and let XP do the hard mile but still get this frustration.

Do any of you think that this is the cause of decrypters hard "slog" at burning those bites to those hungry coasters???

Im becoming an alcoholic with all these awe inspiring coasters im getting to place my VB bitters on.

Please give me some advice. Oh by the way gettin close to Christmas doesnt time fly???

Steve

Well your first pic was not ok. The both the transfer and current mode should be DMA. If Xp has trouble reading a disk eoungh times it will switch back to PIO. Now you have a new problem. The last pic shows the DMA off on the hard disc.
Try reinstalling both.

stevedvd ,
The OS is downgrading from DMA to PIO if you have more than 6 conflicts per grade . So if you start out at DMA-2 and then when you have 6 conflicts then the OS drops you to DMA-1 then 6 more it drops you to PIO-4........... Suggest you d/l a free Registry Cleaner and clean up any conflicts as that might be the problem.

Ive got a version of registry mechanic but this has not resolved the problem. I think I may have to delete the ide for both the primary and secondary and shut down. then remove the ribbon cable start up and afterwards shut down. then re install the ribbon cable from the burners and reboot and let windows detect the devices. Im not sure if this will help but,,,,,what the heck? Ill give it a go but maybe its gunna be like a croc chasin its own tail. No matta wat Ill give it a burl and hammer that IDE beast into the pen. Im gettin desperate and doing things out of the ordinary but in the past it had worked. Wheres that damn horse radish????

Crikey this is a real live one! Tossin and a turnin like a wombat! LOL
