I have just bought some Ritek DVD-R GO5 disks they are 8x and i burnt using imgburn at 4x and i still get not a valid ps2 disk with swap magic 3.6! I have made enough coasters to cover all of the west end bars now and still dont have a single working backup! I am tying to burn Max Payne 2. I am really at the end of my tether now

Think it's time you started to direct your attention to the laser of your PS2 then. It may need cleaned or adjusted.

It works fine with all the backups i get from my mate though and my original games. Thats whats really annoying is that i can't do it myself

try using dvddecrypter to burn the game.

What kind of disk do your mate use.You might want to try burning @ 8x instead of 4x

i had this problom once......it just turned out that i needed 2 update my dvd drives firmware u should give it a go!

yeah, try updating your firmware , also try Taiyo Yuden and or Verbatim blank media, never burn above 4x when burning games though.

try backing up a movie and see if your playback is ok there , you may have a drive/burner problem

I been looking most of the evening for the firmware update for my burner, anyone have any ideas? I have a Lite-on LDW 411S DVDRW and everywhere i go the firmware page is a dead link. Anyone help?

When i go to it there is no file to download and tells me try another route, so i do this and then i download a zip which claims to be the firmware update. When i extract it, its corrupted Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr! I really think this could be whats causing it, the burner is a few years old now.
