Hi there, i;m the beginner with this forum.

I have several PS2 console (Slim line and FAT). I wish to connect the USB external HDD to my slim line console, the model is SCPH 70006.
The question is:-

1. Can i use the third party HDD (Not the official Sony Playstation HDD)with my slim line PS2?

2. If it is posibble to do it, can i use HD Loader to run it? (coz i only have HD Loader Software)

3. What the different between HD Loader, USB Extreme and HD Advance?

4. Like what have Andrew691 said, the old model of PS2 is better to use with internal HDD. But i still facing the same problem like question No 1.

5. How to connect internal HDD with the old model of PS2? Are there any circuit diagram or the pic that i can use for reference?

6. If i wish to connect my several PS2 console with Switch in LAN mode, and 1 of the PS2 are plug with USB HDD, then can i access the game through the rest of the ps2 at the same time?

I can answer 1 through 5
1. yes you can use any third party HDD. Maxtor and seagate are the best
2. HD Loader can only be runned into fat ps2. as for slimline PS2 it need USB Extreme. HD Loader won't work (tried it before)
3. HDLoader and HD Advance particularry almost the same. and as for USB extreme it is specifically designed for slim line ps2 (since it has no HDD chamber in ps2)
4. It is true. not only it has chamber in it self, it load faster and won't have any lagging problem in games cutscenes.
5. You do not need to modify any circuit. all you need to do is buy a network adapter and voala, connect them
Hope these answeres might help you.

I saw some link you can d/w it by torrent. I tried it befor but never get any connection (peers). So i should say no. Just get it from modchip.com or any modchip store from internet.
Don't try getting it from Wal-Mart :D

1. How about the USB Advance? Is it same like the USB extreme? have u tried it before?

2. i;ve read some article about the USB Extreme. First we need to format the HDD as NTFS. then format again with usb extreme through the PC(DOS mode and Window MOde). after that install the game to HDD.
My question is, is it necessary to use the PC to format and install the game? Can i use my PS two to do all this stuff?

I have no exace info about the difference between usb extreme and usb advance. I think they are the same.
and as for your second question, whenever you bought hdd from the store, you need to format it from your pc into ntfs no matter what. But as formatting into USB extreme version, you can do it from your PS2 but it might be slower (since USB at ps2 still USB 1.0). But I would still recommend you to do it from your ps2. less hassle and 100% will be compatible.

hehehe no problem man.
yes you can install your game through your ps2.
if your ps2 isn't moddded, you only install the games if it's real dvd.
IF the stuff you want to install are backup dvd's or some game you downloaded from the internet, you'll need to install it through your computer.
you only need a program named winhiip.
If you think you might installl most of the games from backup dvds or d/w, I suggest you format your HDD through winhiip.
It's a very simple, fast process.
Here's the link for winhiip.

I have a quick question. It's relevant to the discussion in this topic about the USB. USB 1.0 is slower, agreed. But I heard the newer FAT PS2s and Slim PS2s use USB 2.0. Is this true?

for V1-V12 I'm 100% sure they use USB 1.1
I don't know about V13&14. I think they still use 1.1.
Try do some research at google.
