dru-500ax bad firmware

Don?t know what to do now. Ive had my Sony dru-500ax for like 7 months now and it had been working great. One day im surfing and see that Sony has a new Firmware Upgrade 2.0F for it so I download it. I follow all the instructions re: dla software, dma settings off, ect ect.... once it was all said and done I thought I was in the clear. But then I notice that my led light on the drive won?t stop flashing. Not only that but now my drive doesn?t come up right. It comes up as a Sony boot dw-u10a. I think my rom is fried. What do you think? And what should I tell Sony, cuz its still under their warranty.
But I know they are not going to want to exchange it due to me updating the firmware. I did get it off their site thou. Dammit im pist.... any ideas for this?
