Will those two apps run on a laptop with 233 Mhz processor speed with 48 MB of RAM?

How about bitcomet [or any other bittorrent app for that matter]? I would like to add that, no, I do not intend, in any way, to use torrents in an illegal way. I just need to know wether any bittorrent app would work with a laptop of these specs [running windows 98].
P.S.
Is it true that high-speed internet is slown down when it is run on a computer with a slow processor (ie this laptop)?

I think you'll find that most torrent programs will not work on Win 98 with that little ram.

I don't mind upgrading to say 128 MB of RAM, BUT, I want it to run on the current CPU (ie 233 Mhz). The lowest I ever saw a bittorrent app operate at is 266 Mhz, so...I was hoping for some good news.
P.S.
What would please me the most is to find ANY (I don't care how ugly the interfaces are and how complicated it is to use) bittorrent app so that I can dl torrents!

I've seen ”torrent run on slow CPU's like that.
It took ages to start up and whatnot, but it did work.

@The_Fiend:

When you say slow CPU, you mean 233 Mhz, right? I ask cuz, apparently, it works on a 266 Mhz CPU and not on a 233 Mhz one! How much ram did that system have (the one you mentioned)? And...how long is "ages"?

As for CPU, yes, 233, and with ages i mean like between 1-4 minutes.
I'm not at all sure how much RAM the system had, i think about 128 MB, but again, not sure.
I won't guarantee this will work though, as it will probably differ per system.

With 256 MB of RAM and a 233 Mhz processor, should torrent apps run smoothly (in this case utorrent)?

Well, seeing as most torrent programs prefe a faster CPU, there's no guarantees that any of them will work, even with 256mb RAM.
But if you're willing to shelf out the money for it and ty, well, by all means.

Where there not any bittorrent apps back in the day where computers were sooo weak (to today's standards)?

Is it possible for me to OC the CPU from 233 Mhz to 266 Mhz? Is it possible on old computers to take out the CPU and insert a new one or is that only possible on modern laptops?

it might be possible to upgrade the cpu depending on whether it is soldered to the motherboard or not & if you can get a socket 7 amd cpu that hopefully can work on that board.
