Sound issues, *solved*

I recently bought a new Dell XPS400 PC and it is up and running smoothly, however I am having an issue with my sound. Whenever I have winamp on playing anytype of music I get choppy playback when I surf the web at the same time. I use the Opera browser. Also, when I have no music playing and the computer is sitting idle I hear tiny static blurbs from the speakers. Another sound issue is when I am viewing videos on the web from sites such as youtube, they are very sluggish and give the same sound choppyness as winamp does while lisitening to music and browsing. What could possibly be going wrong here?
My Specs:
Dell XPS DX051
Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.20GHz
3.19 GHz, 2.00 GB of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS
Im not sure of my sound card but under devices I have these:
Sigma Tel High def audio codec
Audio Codecs
Legacy Audio Drivers
Media Control Devices
Legacy Video Capture Devices
Video Codecs

First: Find out what sound card you have. Download the drivers. (Sound card name and model can be found in hardware manager, more than likely it will be on board your MOBO)
Second: If this doesn't help, The problem is definetly with your speakers! buy new ones. [This step is more likely the problem, But it is best to try step 1 first, as it is free]

Well I know what a blown speaker sounds like and thats not whats going on here, I doubt they went bad in such a short time and the fact that I only get choppy playback when my browser is loading something points more towards a software issue, don't you think? I'll try updating my drivers and update the situation. Thanks for the advice :)
EDIT: Device manager is telling me that my actuial sound card is the Sigma tel high def thing I listed above; however, under it's properties it says Creative. I have the AIDA32 program and it doesn't really give me a definate soundcard either. It is like you said though, partnered with the motherboard itself.

That is weird, I can actually see no hard ware on your list.
Mine looks like this:
Cant really see how i can help you, sorry.
Just Download some new motherboard drivers, thats all i can suggest

The weird thing is, it only started happening recently. When it was first out of the box it was great. Now that its about 3 months old its doing this.

Hmm, That is weird. Do you have a camera? If so take a picture of the back of your PC where the cables plug in. (Escpecially the MOBO sound cable.)

Well Im not at my house at the moment but as soon as I get there I will. It's sound ports are the very first set of ports on the back of the PC.
EDIT: Wow, now not only my sound becomes choppy when loading web pages but my whole PC gets laggy and choppy like for example, my mouse lags across the screen when loading web pages.

Also, when I have no sound playing I can hear little noises when pages are loading sort of like static but not conventional static. The speakers aren't blown or anything because it only happens when something is loading.

I had a problem like that happen to me as well, but I still had a sound card listed, jorahan is right you have no hardware listed. When that was going on with me what happened is I didn't have "blown" speakers I actually had dying speakers. There was a crossed wire somewhere but before I discovered what it was I ended up having to replace a sound card and a power supply (both were destroyed by speakers).
I would first try to hook another speaker set up to your computer and see if it still makes that sound. Also you may want to try the view hidden devices in device manager see if that shows a sound card. If you can get the hardware itself to be listed try updating the drivers.
Every night has its day.

Ok I have a Microsoft Kernel system audio device and i went through microsoft to find updates but nothing.

EDIT 2: ok... weird but it seems like it was fixed when I updated everything from windows and dell, no more sound mess or pc lag. Thanks for all your help guys!
