I got the firmware done today. The guy done it so all I have to do is put it in and it'll play like an original. I don't have to flick HD switch on the AV cable or anything.
Now, when i went up there, I took the game, Enchanted Arms, which I ordered off someone. The guy done the mod tested it right in front of me with his copied games and they worked perfectly, but my copy of Enchanted Arms didn't.
Now, the doesn't seem to scratched or anything, but would it be worth the effort to go out and buy some blank, dual-layer DVDs and trying to re-burn it?

Well, the best media tend to be the Verbatim DVD+R DL. If you don't have those, try and get some and re-do the game. Secondly, what firmware did the guy put on your 360? The newest versions have better media detection so the ones you have that don't work...will.
Oh yeah, don't say you ordered a game off of someone.. That's obvious piracy.

The discs are Verbatim.
I'm not sure what firmware he put on there. It was the Xtreme Firmware one, and he was using software that had just come out. It just seeems weird: I know it works with others because he showed me. I guess I'll have to re-burn it.
When i put the game in, it made this funny jumping noise, as if it was trying to load but couldn't. Then it stoppped and said open tray. It isn't scratched or anything. I chucked it into the PC to see if it had anything on it, and when I looked at what it had on it, it had a Audio TS and a Video TS folder. The videos were that video that says Put this disc into a 360....don't know if that helps.

When people get firmware done for them, they usually end up with problems such as this. Most modders use the Pioneer DVD+R DL writer when they make their games. Most older firmwares for the Hitachi drive wouldn't work unless you burned with this drive. The new hitachi firmware allows you to use basically any dl burner than can booktype to dvd-rom. I don't know if you're using a hitachi or samsung, but check to make sure you can booktype DVD+R DL to dvd-rom.

Honestly though, I think it might be where I got the game from that's the problem. I used to get this guy to back up my Xbox 1 games and sometimes I had to re-burn them myself before they would work.
The guy who done the mod for me seemed to know what he was doing and had all sorts of electronical and programming qualifications on his wall.
The drive is a Hitachi.
When you say:
The new hitachi firmware allows you to use basically any dl burner than can booktype to dvd-rom. I don't know if you're using a hitachi or samsung, but check to make sure you can booktype DVD+R DL to dvd-rom.
How would I check this last part about booktyping DVD+R DL to DVD rom?

I'm confused. THe guy who done the mod said he put the latest firmware in there.
The new hitachi firmware allows you to use basically any dl burner than can booktype to dvd-rom.
Do you mean if I want to re-copy a backup onto another disc? that I have to have a DVD dual layer burner that can booktype to DVD-rom?

all backups must be booktyped to dvd -rom that is what the 360 can read if they are set to ANYTHING else it wont work so use the app to set your booktype to the - rom and that is that.

So I can re-burn this copy of enchanted arms, which seems to have all the files on it, with my normal Dual layer burner if I can change it to a booktype setting?
IF it does go to that setting, can I thn just use Nero or something to copy it from there?

I was looking in Nero, I clicked copy DVD, and from there I could go and see recorder options. There is a part that says Book-Type Settings. I can change it to DVD-Rom, Current Recorder setting, automatic, or Physical Disc Drive.
Is this the booktype setting I need if I want to re-burn the backup onto a new Dual Layer disc?
Also, what type of Dual Layer disc would I need? - or + ?

Nero doesn't work for 360 games. It has a problem with putting the layer break in the right place. You'll need to get Clone CD. DVD Decryptor can also work for copying a working backup. I just use Clone CD, because it seem to be what works best and it's what pretty everyone else uses. You HAVE to use +R, because only +R allows booktyping which is a requirement. Go with Vertabims.

Hit button that says +RW in DVDinfopro. The option to change the booktype will come up. Change it to DVD ROM. You have to have a blank disc in the drive 1st. Then close DVDinfopro and start up Clone CD. Your drive will now be booktype to DVD-ROM and you're ready to burn with Clone CD.

OK, in DVDinfopro it lets me change it to DVD-Rom, so I guess my burner can do it properly. Just gotta get some blank Dual layers to test it now.

Got a dual layer, but I only have one, so I gotta make it count. Its a verbatim +R dual layer disc.
So, I open DVD infopro, go to the booktype settings and turn it to DVD rom, then close that, put in the non-working backup, and just copy it with clone cd?

I was reading on the net about layer breaks. Do I have to do this with the Enchanted Arms copy or will Clone cd just do it all automatically?
